Speaking in August 2014, John Swinney explains that GERS is crucial to understanding why an independent Scotland would be able to spend more on public services. Curiously, he talks very little about what GERS tells us today…

That audience dude is Scot Arthur from Edinburgh Mr T, very prominent anti independence running up to 2014 indy ref. Now am MP. He's probably Brit agent. Rewarded with MP. Very tasty, very in love with English rule.

Swinney had never had the ability to reframe the answer that he's rehearsed When he's challenged on anything he just repeats what he previously said. So tiresome.

In Scotland cost of SNP ministers per capita is £229,000 twice as expensive as UK that is £122,000 per capita.... SNP, incompetent, over bloated and overly expensive and we Scottish taxpayers pay highest tax in UK with 20 years of declining Scottish standards

If £8.3b is the updated figure in 2014 compared to the £12.6b given in 2013's Scotland's Future, that's quite a drop in the average. Reflects the volatility of oil I guess.

@JohnSwinney you currently display the vanity of someone of limited ability who inside cannot believe how lucky he is that anyone listens to him.
