It's Basketball Media Day for the Mountain West. It'll be a long day for #UNLVmbb coach Josh Pastner. He's got a game tonight vs. Utah at the Thomas & Mack in addition to all the media obligations he has here at the Palms.

From the #Gr8:
My family and I decided this summer that this will be my final year in the NHL. I love this game so much, but I know in my heart it’s the right decision. It was important for me to make this announcement before our first home game, so I have the chance to thank all the people around the game, everyone who has been so important to me and my family and helped me through good times and tough losses. I wouldn’t have been able to achieve everything I have in my life without them. I am excited about this season with my teammates, and we will do everything we can to make this year special. I am going to enjoy every moment with my family, my boys, our fans and everyone who has been part of my hockey career. See you Wednesday, babes!

Just when you think you've got Patrick Mahomes under control, he finds a way to hit a big play to beat you. The Raiders found that out Sunday as I explain in my @SportingTrib column from @AllegiantStadm. thesportingtribune.com/2026/…

Mhomes remains master of making the big play

The veteran star quarterback made the Raiders pay by delivering when Kansas City needed him to in helping the Chiefs to a 30-27 win.

Cousins picked off by Nwankpa and that's it. Chiefs win 30-27. KC 4-0, Raiders 3-1.

The Raiders get one last chance. They need a FG to tie. There's 1:16 to go. The bad news? They'll start from their own 1 after great punt coverage by the Chiefs. Here we go ...

Nope. Chiefs able to get it as Worthy has it.

The Raiders cut it to 30-27 w/1:46 to play, Cousins to Bowers for 20 yards and a 2-point conversion to White. Can they capture the ensuing onsides kick?

So much for that. Young fumbles the kickoff, the Chiefs recover and Walker runs it in from 22 yards out, diving to the pylon. 30-19 KC.

Walker takes it in for the TD. Chiefs back in front 23-19. The 2-point try failed. 3:21 to play. It's on Cousins, Bowers and the LV offense now to try and win this game.

On 3rd and 5, Mahomes hits the big one, a 55-yard strike to Thornton deep in LV territory. Tack on unnecessary roughness penalty on Quay Walker and the Chiefs have 1st and goal at the Raiders 3. Thornton was hurt on the play and is carted off. Tough break for him.

On 4th and 1 at KC 29, Kubiak elects to kick the FG and Gay delivers form 44 yards as the Raiders retake the lead, 19-17. 4:53 left. Yeah, I know, that's plenty of time for Mahomes. But let's see if the Raiders defense can deliver in the clutch.

We have a Cody White sighting and it's not in the end zone. He makes a back shoulder catch on the left sideline for 27 yards and a first down for the Raiders.

The drive stalls at the KC 25. Raiders settle for a 44-yard FG from Gay to pull within 17-16. 11:12 to play.

Laube returns the kickoff 53 yards to the KC 45. Ashton Jeanty is OK and back on the field. Got stopped on first down.

The Chiefs take the lead, Mahomes to Thornton for 8 yards. 17-13 KC 10 seconds into the 4th.
