Honestly it's a tale as old as time: women give a chance on a new artist or creation or w/e, popularize it despite resistance from men because "anything women like must be vapid", and then men co-opt it completely. The same happened with The Beatles.

This. People think trafficking is only because of sex but in truth, the majority of trafficking involves slave labor, both of women and men and children. In agriculture, textiles, call centers...

Also I just checked a collation of most recent statistics with regards to trafficking. Sexual exploitation makes up 32% of the types of trafficking that exists worldwide, so the 79% from Mr Costa that OOP had pulled is a questionable statistic from 2009
