Seun: Is it Tinubu’s policy that killed your mother? Amaechi: Of course, before Tinubu, my mother was healthy. Seun: it is not your responsibility to take care of your mother and you allow her to die. Ameachi: Do I have a choice? Do you know how many people I'm taking care of?

🇳🇬 Nigeria's outlook just improved because of the Iran war... Moody's revised the country to positive from stable on Friday, citing stronger foreign exchange reserves and growth ahead of expectations, while affirming the B3 rating. The agency expects Nigeria's current account surplus to stay sizeable even if oil prices fall materially. Africa's third-largest economy has ridden the crude surge driven by the Middle East conflict, along with a ramp-up in refined product exports. The World Bank projects growth around 4.2% this year. Six months of a shut strait has redistributed money as much as it has redrawn shipping lanes. Iran's exports fell to near zero, Americans are paying about $4 a gallon, and producers well outside the fighting are collecting the difference. Source: Reuters / Writer: Daniel

PROTECTING FOOTBALL, RESTORING NATIONAL PRIDE Football occupies a special place in our national life. It brings Nigerians together across generations and communities, and our country has never lacked talent, passion or support for the game. Yet, our results have too often fallen short of what Nigeria should expect. I have therefore directed a comprehensive reform of Nigerian football following our repeated failures to qualify for major regional, continental and world tournaments. The problems are structural, and our response must address them.

STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE President Tinubu approves salary increases for armed forces personnel President Bola Tinubu has approved salary increases of between 30 and 80 per cent for Nigeria’s armed forces personnel. About 250,000 personnel are to benefit from the new deal. Under the new arrangement, which becomes effective from September 1, officers above the rank of colonel will enjoy a 30 per cent salary increase. This applies to Brigadier-Generals, Major-Generals, Lieutenant Generals and Generals. Personnel from colonel down to warrant officer will have a 50 per cent increase, while Private to Staff Sergeant will have an 80 per cent increase. The pay package will increase the yearly salary bill for the country's armed forces personnel from N660 billion to N924 billion. President Tinubu has always praised the courage and sacrifices of members of the armed forces as they confront the scourge of banditry, kidnapping and terrorism in some parts of the country. “The men and women who help to keep us safe in our homes must be supported and appreciated in the course of their duties to our nation. “Our administration will continue to prioritise troop welfare and modernise the armed forces by providing the weapons and technological tools needed to discharge their duties. “Our administration believes that no nation can achieve greatness without security. We therefore remain resolute in mobilising all military and law enforcement assets to eliminate security threats and protect the lives and property of all Nigerians “ I urge our servicemen to take our gesture as a sign of our deep appreciation of the services they render to our fatherland. Together we shall prevail over the enemies intent on destroying the fabric of our nation”. Bayo Onanuga Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy) August 4, 2026

Tinubu to governors: Stop building flyovers where there’s no traffic — you can do more for citizens President Bola Tinubu has asked state governors to “stop building flyovers where there is no numeric traffic” and do more to improve the quality of life of citizens. Tinubu spoke in Abuja on Thursday while receiving traditional rulers from Oyo state led by Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, at the State House. Speaking directly to Ladoja, Tinubu said the financial allocations of states had increased more than four times compared to when the monarch and the president served as state governors.

STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE PRESIDENT TINUBU APPROVES EXPANSION OF NIGERIAN ARMY TO 12 DIVISIONS, RECRUITMENT OF 28,000 PERSONNEL TO STRENGTHEN NATIONAL SECURITY President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has approved the expansion of the Nigerian Army’s structure from eight to twelve divisions—a landmark move to enhance the country’s security architecture and improve the operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Army. This approval underscores the President’s unwavering commitment to equipping the Armed Forces to address Nigeria’s evolving security challenges effectively and to strengthen national defence capabilities further. The expansion builds on the Administration’s sustained investments in the Armed Forces, including approval for the recruitment of 28,000 additional personnel, acquisition of critical military platforms and equipment, improvements in troop welfare, and ongoing support for operational readiness and force modernisation. Under the new structure, the Nigerian Army will operate twelve divisions, strategically positioned across the country as follows: 1. 1 Division Headquarters – Kaduna (Kaduna, Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States) 2. 2 Division Headquarters – Ibadan (Oyo, Osun, Ekiti and Ondo States) 3. 3 Division Headquarters – Jos (Plateau, Bauchi and Gombe States) 4. 5 Division Headquarters – Makurdi (Benue, Nasarawa and Kogi States) 5. 6 Division Headquarters – Port Harcourt (Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River States) 6. 7 Division Headquarters – Maiduguri (Borno and Yobe States) 7. 8 Division Headquarters – Sokoto (Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States) 8. 9 Division Headquarters – Ilorin (Kwara and Niger States) 9. 10 Division Headquarters – Jalingo (Taraba and Adamawa States) 10. 81 Division Headquarters – Lagos (Lagos and Ogun States) 11. 82 Division Headquarters – Enugu (Enugu, Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi and Imo States) 12. 83 Division Headquarters – Benin City (Edo, Delta and Bayelsa States). The establishment of the new Divisions in Makurdi, Ilorin, Jalingo and Benin City will significantly improve command and control, decentralise operational decision-making, strengthen border security, enhance the protection of critical national infrastructure, improve counter-insurgency and internal security operations, and ensure faster military response to emerging threats nationwide. Implementation of the new force structure will be done in two phases. The first phase, covering the establishment of the 5, 9, and 10 Divisions and the reorganisation of existing formations, will be completed by September 2026. The second phase, involving the establishment of the 83 Division and further reorganisation, is expected to be completed by December 2026. President Tinubu commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Ibrahim Shuaibu, and all officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army for their dedication, professionalism, and steadfast commitment to defending Nigeria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The President reaffirmed his Administration’s determination to continue investing in the Armed Forces, ensuring they remain adequately equipped, highly motivated, and fully capable of protecting the nation and guaranteeing the safety and security of all Nigerians.
