Possible that your name got struck off when you were in US and got added to Absent, Shift, Duplicate & Dead Voter's List? I was not in India for less than an year and during a routine inspection, my name got added to that list and I had to later get it reversed. The process may be cumbersome but sometimes Hanlen's razor is at play. (BTW my own name now got stuck off in SIR due to a discrepancy in name from older roll but was able to bring it back easily). Interestingly, the democratic inclusion of even the CM in the strike off maybe shows that the process is not political.

Surjit, I know you from your CricketX days and have always regarded you as one of India’s finest statisticians. You should be on their technical advisory panel. This needs engineering, not arguments. The Hon’ble Supreme Court should consider an independent third-party technical audit of the voter-data system—how records are matched, duplicates identified, names deleted, identities verified, exceptions handled and every change logged. If old big-data tools or poorly designed vendor systems have wrongly removed genuine voters, that is a serious issue. The audit should establish who designed the system, what rules and algorithms were used, what records were changed, why they were changed and whether every action can be independently verified. The bigger concern is that even a basic “one nation, connected data architecture” seems to be missing, with important government systems operating as separate systems. If important technology decisions were influenced by weak or biased technical advisers, those choices may have created problems that are now very difficult to repair. It is still too early to say whether any of this was intentional or could amount to a scam. That conclusion should come only after the evidence is independently audited.

But I have a problem with this kind of analysis Shekhar. @surjitbhalla , whom I respect enormously for his wit and knowledge, would always spin a different yarn as long as he was on the right side of establishment. Suddenly, he is becoming a critic of most of economic rationale of the government.
