Highly recommend working with Sylessae. She is an amazing mentor 💚✨
My portrait bootcamp is for you if you: - Spend too much time thinking about drawing rather than actually drawing - Don't know what to study - Get overwhelmed by all there is to learn - Struggle to balance art with other responsibilities - Thrive with accountability 👇

We've also partnered with TrueRef to provide the bootcamp with quality reference material that is always free of retouching, and never AI-generated. You're a busy artist with limited time. We know it's important to spend less time scrolling for refs and more time drawing.

Embrace cringe and draw the stuff you're too embarrassed to show the world. Be free.
you know what's embarrassing? literally nothing. why? because nobody cares. live your best life.

The best way to create this safe inner space is to make little messes and allow the thoughts and feelings to arise. Stay with them, observe them, recognize that they mean absolutely nothing about who you are as an artist, and you'll begin to realize you're safe in uncertainty, messes, and experimentation. It might feel uncomfortable at first. It's okay. You're okay. You can do it.
you keep getting stuck in analysis paralysis before starting that one creative project you’ve been idealizing because you’re not creating a safe inner place for simply making drafts, testing out ideas, and teaching yourself the general workings of the project without pressure. you expect it to be a perfect finished product in the very first try and that’s why you keep hoarding information. depressurize the goal and bring joy into it instead. allow yourself to get lost in the hours of refinement the task at hand asks of you, and watch how your frequency begins matching one of pure magic and wonder. creative work is trance-inducing first, and you cannot fall into a state of deep trance if you’re not relaxed and willing to be playful about your mistakes first. practicing is a resource.

This is why I'm such a huge proponent of sketchbooking in ink. You're forced to face your mistakes, which might feel bad in the short term, but in the long term they stop losing their sting. You start recognizing that they can exist without stopping you or defining you.

One of my colleagues asked me “Do you think you’re superior for not using AI in your work?” and I'm like, Thank you for that beautiful question. Yes, I do.

Some of the easiest and best advice I’ve seen in awhile
Just draw. Be curious, be open to drawing new things, be self-forgiving when you make mistakes, draw everything that excites you. Getting good doesn't have to be that hard or serious. You just gotta keep drawing.
