A lot of you men don’t see yourself as the prize. You don’t know it is a privilege for a girl to have access to you? It’s a privilege for a girl to know where you live? It’s a privilege for a girl to get laid by you? Many of you have a car and your own space, you roll with babes who still live with their parents and can’t afford rents not to talk of a car, some of you even chill with girls who can’t afford their own transport, you don’t know it’s a privilege for her to even roll with the big boys? Many of these babes can’t afford to visit some of the restaurants you take them to, and even when they go to those restaurants alone, they know what they order for, it’s only when they are with you that they want to try new expensive things out. You don’t know it’s a privilege to know you? You don’t rate yourself at all.

5 years ago, Isaac Ayomide Olayiwola (Layi Wasabi) started treating comedy like work. Before that, the plan was law. He is from Osogbo. His family put education first. They pushed him toward something conventional. He even went to Bowen University and studied law. He has said he cared about theatre more. He had been performing since school (a drama group in junior secondary, talent shows, stand-up from about 2015) He posted early content too but almost nobody treated it as a career. The skit scene already had a formula that people were used to (loud, fast, copy what is already going viral) But Layi did not go that way. He has said he made comedy that felt natural to him, not comedy that already had a template. . . Late 2020 into 2021, a few skits caught. Then the professor, the interviewer. Then his most viral personality "The Law" (the struggling lawyer with no real office. He built that character from what he saw in court and during NYSC at the Ministry of Justice in Ibadan) The same law path people used to keep him "serious" became the joke people could not ignore and that millionsss grew to love. And from there, brand work, AMVCA for Best Content Creator, then film (Adire, Aníkúlápó, Everybody Loves Jenifa) . . Layi Wasabi is proof that no experience of yours is wasted. The little things you have seen repeatedly, can turn out to be something relatable to millions of people. Embrace your humble beginnings. You never can tell how much those experiences will shape your future. So today, don't lament too much about your present situation. Learn what you can learn. Pass through the experiences. Perhaps, you will understand better in months or years to come. . .
