It takes 12 years to become an Indian (who would ever want to though)

You have to renounce your citizenship of your home country.
India has better immigration laws than Canada.
At least 12 years of lawful residence is required for naturalisation: 11 years aggregate in the 14 years before the final continuous 12 months. India does not allow dual citizenship, so Irish nationality must be renounced. Approval is discretionary by the government.

When I listen to Mark Carney talk it's obvious he views Canada as a source of resources to make money off of.
He doesn't care about the average Canadian or Canadian culture. That's why he talks about hockey so much, to fool you into thinking he's a Canadian, just like you.
