On Wednesday morning I had breakfast at the Grand America in Salt Lake City. My server was 21. Sharp, warm, good at her job. We got talking and I asked her if she knew what 9/11was. She said, "We were attacked by terrorists." That all she had. ∙She did not know four planes went down. ∙She did not know almost 3,000 people were murdered. ∙She did not know the men who did it were radical Islamists who told the world exactly why. She was not dumb. She was not political. She was never taught. She was born after 9/11. So were nearly a third of Americans. Tim Brown was inside the North Tower that morning. He lost 93 friends. He expected a stampede. What he found was people helping strangers who never asked their race, their religion, or their politics. I've been watching the Micro Duck robot intently. It's $399 robot duck offered by Hugging Face and Pollen Robotics that is already sold out. It can walk, fall and get up, pick up things with its beak and has cameras and lidar. The thing that makes it different is the software itself is open sourced, so you can program it the way you want. Lots of robots have come and go. Most think it is because the hardware wasn't valuable. In reality, it is almost always the software that makes a robot fly off the shelves or flop. And most hardware companies suck at software, and vice versa. Which is why open-sourcing the software is really smart and could make thing work. .@MrsCto asked me a question today that changed how I think about Layer 2C: “What if the company isn’t enterprise IT research?” I’ve spent the last year building Layer 2C in public. The methodologies, prompts, skills, software, evidence controls, assessments, and labs are largely there for anyone to see. I assumed I was building a better way to do technology research. Lab 015 made me question that assumption. I moved the Layer 2C methodology onto @KamiwazaAI and showed that another analyst could operate the workflow while the evidence and methodology remained controlled. In other words: Keith didn’t have to be the execution environment. That matters because @TheCTOAdvisor ultimately scales with me. Layer 2C potentially doesn’t. The IP may not be my research on enterprise technology. The IP may be the machinery for turning expert judgment into a repeatable, auditable system. Today, that machinery is pointed at enterprise IT because that’s what I know. But what happens if you replace my expertise and canon with those of an expert in insurance, manufacturing, healthcare, or finance? Same machinery. Different domain. Different expert judgment. That’s potentially a very different company. I build out loud, so there’s no secret here. If I’ve thought of this, someone else probably has too. The difference is that I’ve already built it, tested it, and shown my work.

Check out Greg Abel, the newly elected CEO of Berkshire Hathaway talk about it on CNBC. See how different Abel is vs. Zuck, Altman, etc. - "There has to be a net benefit to our customers." - "You have to be a welcomed member of the community." - "The communities have to understand the impact on water." And...the punchline is, "We have not had any specific site rejected to date." This is not about consumers being stupid or smart. This is about Big Tech being human and understanding that relationships matter. Facts alone aren't sufficient. Berkshire has a large portfolio of energy companies, the main bottleneck for AI. A saturated market category can still contain an enormous missing. “Saturated” describes how much of what already exists is out there. It tells you almost nothing about the opportunity for different. 🏴‍☠️

@QuickBooks I barely use your software but for a few times out of the year to pay our estimated taxes, but it's on the fritz now and I can't get the transactions loaded for me to classify. It's remarkable to me how many new features you've added (that I don't use), and yet the basic functionality still is not reliable
