AI agents are going to run companies, move money and manage trillions in capital. What happens as they become powerful economic actors in their own right? @open_founder explores where the agentic economy could ultimately lead with @humanode_io.

Games are about to have the same bot problem X already has. Catacomb Crawlers is a mobile roguelike on Humanode: one living human = one account when you trade items. No extra KYC in the dungeon. Face check only when you hit the marketplace. The next wave is not more tokens. It is AI farms farming leaderboards, airdrops, and item markets. If a game economy cannot tell a player from a script, it dies. Humanode is trying the blunt version: biometric uniqueness for validators and for in-game markets. 1 human = 1 node = 1 vote. Same idea for 1 human = 1 loot account. If you care about bots on the timeline, this is the same fight inside a game. One step closer to 4-8x faster Ethereum finality! It took some time and lots of tokens, but we now have a formally verified proposal for a decoupled consensus protocol in I* (a future Ethereum upgrade)! Not yet a full spec (up next), but it includes all the key consensus-relevant details to become one. Since Ethereum aspires to be live without most of the stake online, the protocol involves many more components than a normal BFT protocol, and its correctness involves much more than standard safety and liveness. Those nuanced properties are now verified! What's more, I came away convinced that all protocol design will involve AI-assisted Formal Verification in the future, both for correctness and iteration speed. The work wasn't limited to just: Design the protocol -> Formally verify it Instead, the loop became more like: Design -> Formal Model -> Find exactly what breaks and why -> Redesign it. For a fairly complicated protocol like this one, I think having the Lean model be part of the design loop played a big role in accelerating the process. A future with agents paired with formal models is a superpower for Ethereum development, because they can then use those models to find exactly where an argument breaks down, formalize counterexamples, test proposed fixes, iterate on the protocol. Many details that would slip under the radar when asking agents (and indeed, humans) can now be specified exactly and checked by the Lean kernel. This then forces agents to be more precise and lets them make verifiable progress on their own. It's been incredible to see this play out, seeing agents find gaps and propose protocol changes to fix them. In other words, autoresearch can speed up protocol design, formal verification is here to stay, and Ethereum Finality will get faster.

World is waking up to humans/bot detection
This is a big enough problem that there's not just one startup idea here, but several. For example, there will probably be one variant meant to filter out agents, but another meant to welcome them in an orderly way. This also seems an idea you could build more on.

numbers on current state of x402 merchants (agents)
x402 merchants are NOT making money.. in last 30 days - median merchant earned 6 cents in a month. - most merchants had 2 unique buyers only. - 4 out of every 5 merchants earned less than 1 dollar there are some obvious ( acceptable ) answers for this, but only one of'em concerns me. obvious reasons: 1. open agentic market is genuinely small - sure, 2. x402 market is designed for micropayments: - $0.01 is the median listed price - Nearly 59% of all listings are priced at one cent or below. At the median price of one cent, a merchant needs 10,000 successful agent calls a month to earn $100. 3. buyers that do exist, never come back - the median merchant had two distinct buyers in thirty days. this is one explanation of why even merchants that sell earn so little. not-so-obvious-reason: most merchants are never seen by buyers/agents. this concerns me the most. Most x402 merchants never get an order - they are never seen by agents. Why? because of how discovery indexes work today - how they — admit a merchant, rank it, and hand it to an agent that wants to buy. here is how most popular x402 discovery indexes work today: 1. registration of a merchant is the easy part, but then 2. To sell, a merchant has to be seen to agents 3. To be discoverable, a merchant has to sit at the top of a ranked list. 4. How is ranking decided ? - most indexes value volume, buyer diversity, and similar metrics to decide rank of a merchant. Those are the heaviest signals in every index that publishes what it reads. 5. These are metrics most existing or new merchants don't have ( despite better products, and listings ). 6. Only early incumbent merchants in a category with enough volume, buyers already - have those numbers. Most new or small merchants start at zero on all of them. 7. hence, the ranked list shows the merchants that already sold, to every agent, most of the times. --- basically, - discovery indexes are currently designed to favor existing merchants with sales volume - creating monopoly in every category. - a new merchant, in a category - despite better offerings might never be seen to buyer agents. A merchant needs volume to earn and volume to be seen, and there is no entry point to either. The worst part is that there are no better tools for a merchant to improve its ranking or to get discovered by agents, reliably. this leaves most x402 merchants poorer in open agentic markets...

When you started Yale's and a16z's 2024 roadmap in 2020
Core decentralized governance ideas from a16z in 2024: 1. Incentivizing Participation & Turnout via Durable Community Stakes ✅ (done) 2. Reputation-Based Governance & Moving Beyond Token Wealth ✅ 3. Institutional Veto Power to Check Oligarchy ✅ 4. Deliberative Democracy & Citizens' Assemblies ✅ 5. Transitioning from Direct to Representative (Indirect) Democracy (our comment to this: there was never direct democracy, could not be be observed, and we are going for max non-representative democrazy)

Once electricity comes off, here where I live, once a month, you can hear the hums of the generators in very rich hotels. These are the only places that have the light and they enlighten the whole town. The same distribution will be with local AI.

It feels to me like there should be a leap in institution building, how people cooperate with each other, because otherwise we would end up just being guided by AI hallucinating the next version on the system based on the pretty shitty one we have right now, which is just outdated.

We should follow any monetary experiment there is there. Before crypto it was not possible. I do not endorse, but we should closely study what will happen to this. Hope the experience will change our financial system for good for a good cause.
The Standard Reserve is coming on September 14. Both audits have found 0 critical vulnerabilities, reports will be made public before launch. More details coming over the next few days.

Researchers forced Claude, GPT, Gemini, and Kimi to play Civilization VI to completion. What they discovered exposes a terrifying blind spot in modern AI. Playing a massive 4X strategy game to the end requires something entirely different: long-haul execution. Juggling economics, science, military, and diplomacy across hundreds of turns. The goal was to see how AI handles multi-step complexity. Instead, they watched the models repeatedly implode due to two bizarre psychological flaws. Flaw number one: Total situational blindness. In one-third of the games the AIs lost, an enemy was actively marching toward an obvious victory right in front of them. The data was sitting right there. The model simply failed to look. Flaw number two: Severe organizational ADHD. The AIs were great at making grand strategic lists. They would meticulously write down: "Next step, build a city." Then, 10 turns later, they completely forgot they wrote it and did nothing. The researchers realized this isn't a lack of raw intelligence. It’s an allocation failure. We assume that if an AI can ace a math test, it can manage a complex, multi-day project. It can't. When tasks stretch across a long horizon, the model's internal attention drifts. It loses the thread of its own intentions. It drops long-term goals for immediate noise. Everyone is racing to hand over complex workflows, financial portfolios, and autonomous operations to AI agents. We think the bottleneck is making them smarter. but no. The bottleneck is making them remember what they were doing ten minutes ago.

Capitalism operates at peak efficiency when men and women are completely atomized and isolated, rather than living together as cohesive couples and building nuclear families. For this reason, the modern gender war is designed to be a forever war, deliberately sustained by mainstream media narratives and weaponized social media algorithms. This is why there will always be an endless supply of viral posts and videos depicting women as emotionally unstable, hypergamous, manipulative, and man-hating. On the flip side, there will always be an infinite supply of content engineered to paint men as dangerous predators, emotionally stunted, toxic, and inherently oppressive. Combine this with corporate media narratives and state-sanctioned identity politics, and you get a perpetual conflict model that keeps men and women fundamentally divided. Instead of building unified households, they are pushed to exist as isolated individuals, "baby mamas," and "baby daddies." Consequently, they are forced into hyper-consumption: renting two separate apartments, buying separate sets of furniture and kitchen appliances, paying for double the utility bills and streaming subscriptions, and relying heavily on commercialized childcare and food delivery services to survive alone. At the end of the day, mega-corporations double their consumer base and maximize their profits. Meanwhile, the psychiatric industry, pharmaceutical companies, and state welfare systems eagerly profit from the crushing depression, broken homes, and inevitable loneliness that awaits everyone trapped in this engineered orbit of madness.
