I suspect we're approaching a time where if you want to protect creative work, it has to be something that can't be digitized. AI has made is so that creative works speed run through the lifecycle from cool to cliche in a matter of months. This contributes to our cultural stagnation, making it hard for real creators to produce something with meaningful, lasting effects on other real creators. Everything becomes a meme, which is to say meaningless and trite.
Can't believe that Dario, Elon, Sam, Theo and I all agree on this.

Love this. "When I was trying to find the pure thing... it was really driven by fear more than anything else. A fear of doing it wrong or following the wrong thing." ex-monk Scott Tusa in convo w. scholar @babblist piped.video/watch?v=xG5u1KZR…

Any of u geniuses get how this actually works? “AI creates a personalized foundation for each student, meeting them exactly at their current knowledge level.” Intriguing—I built a knowledge base for a new course, would be dope to level up. piped.video/eKC6_pEreKg

Peter's cohorts are really great. If you are Dzogchen-curious or you have already been practicing in a Tantric Buddhist lineage and you want to do some broadening, deepening cross-study, he puts his whole heart into these cohorts and gives so much material. plus, Bruce Tift!

We won’t become something different in the future — our experience exists only in the present. Practice means becoming increasingly willing to engage directly with that immediacy — including the vulnerability, uncertainty, and limitations of being human thefield.us/courses/dzogchen…

Here is a link to the deck for this morning's “Working with Difficult Feelings.” May it benefit. There are so many healthful mental and physiological health interventions, and this workshop covered just a fraction of them. speakers.thefield.us/emotion…

Dzogchen’s attitude has a paradoxical quality: it looks like we are practicing to change our experience, yet we continually engage with our everyday human concerns. This is not a path of transcendence, but an experience of irresolvable immediacy.

Jonny’s commitment to accuracy is a salve in a sea of half-baked theory and misinformation. Kudos.

Grateful to the folks who generously gave feedback on the drafts (no small feat on a 30 minute essay)... it turns out essay writing takes a village! Specific appreciation to @george__mack (who nudged me to write this in the first place), @johnsonmxe (whose vasocomp theory provided the backbone), @melodaysong (helped make the writing readable) @oloal, @p_millerd, @tomowenmorgan, @techgnostic (provided clarification on technical aspects), @OshanJarow, @anesmithbeck, @timourxyz, @IAmBenJames, @NDominator and others...

Openness = unconditional Contraction = expression of openness Nonduality ≠ choosing openness over relative experience Relative experience & openness = inseparable, yet manifest differently. Taking refuge in openness is the complementary error to being captured by contraction.

Creative work seems to involve a natural oscillation between openness and choice. Curiosity, play, not knowing. Then limitation, commitment, revision, making. Sasha Chapin joins me for a dialogue to explore that movement — and how spiritual practice might influence it. 🔗 in 🧵
