Rome is burning and Nero is fiddling. Nigerians will say, "dis no be ordinary eye." Something is wrong somewhere.

All the roads leading to Akwete are bad. We swam through a mini river in Ovom to get to Azumini on our way to Akwa Ibom. From Aba through Ohanku to Obohia road, the Ohanku road to Owerri-Aba junction was good. From Owerri-Aba to Ohanku Market was tortious. Ohanku road was unrecognizable. It was beautiful and fixed unlike the cesspool during the last administration. From Obohia through Ohanso to Akwete was a journey in the valley of death (NDDC project). The number of articulated trucks were frightening. NBM trucks were like ants. Two trucks sank by the LGA HQ and the Police Divisional Station. We had to make a detour through the village and came out by the Akwete Market. We couldn't take the market road to the Akwete Roundabout. We had to run another route to come out before Lambert Nmecha's White House and Hon Chris Nwonta House, the House of Rep member representing Ukwa constituency, who had been pushing for the road to be fixed. Capital budgets have not been fully implemented over the years. Ndoki roads are bad, but they take solace in the Presco $200m palm deal with Abia Palm, the Ohanku General Hospital project and Obeaku/Azumini Sea Port. Obeaku folks don't want Azumini name to be mentioned in the port nomenclature. Wahala for the most insignificant thing. They told us about the visit of the President's wife's visit to Akwete and the N2B donation for the weaving industry by the First Lady leaving a tussle between Akwete and the entire Ndoki on who owns the funds, who are all in the weaving industry. From Akirika to Azumini, Ohambele, Nkpajekere, Obohia, Ohanso, Oba, Akwete, Umuibe, Umuagbai, Mgboji, Obeti, (on the Rivers State side, cut off from the Abia end by the flooded Imo River, separating the Abia and Rivers Ndoki), they are Ndoki and weave the Akwete cloth named after Dada Nwakata, the founder, who got married to an Akwete man (the tales). All these tales came forth when we stopped by the Akwete Market and were treated to freshly brewed 'Etetem gin' from Raffia Palms in the area. We supplied bottles and dried pork meat, from a joint owned by an Edu Brazil, to the men around and we bellowed in high spirits irrespective of the state of the economy. We passed during their Eke market day. Activities were low in a once bubbling market. Low purchasing power. We ended up in Obehie from Akwete en route PH. Portharcourt is a totally dysfunctional city. That's the story for another day. Kindly look into the roads, bra. It was hell passing through Ndoki land. @alexottiofr @GreatAbia @nkwontachris @NDDCOnline Enyinnaya Abaribe.
Akwete cloth is a hand woven textile produced in Igboland from the town of Akwete and Ndoki, both in Abia state. Akwete is a decorative cloth with complex weave designs, creating intricate geometric patterns, made with many vibrant colors. Traditionally, Akwete cloth is woven in pairs and was commonly worn by Igbo women as a wrap-around skirt, known as a wrapper, paired with a lightweight machine-made blouse. Today, Akwete fabric has more modern applications and can be worn by both men and women. Buy #MadeInAbia today Ndewonu!

You want to hit $1tr in GDP, a veritable sector to that growth (Financial Intermediation, Credit and Capital Creation, Support for SMEs, Infrastructure and Industrial Financing, Payments Systems and Trade Facilitation, Financial Inclusion) keeps declaring massive profits, stocks are liquid and returning healthy earnings, and the general economy is struggling. My friend, that system is Byzantine, baroque, labyrinthine, unfathomable, convoluted, Kafkaesque, dysfunctional, and incomprehensible and will end up not having any form of sustainable socio-economic growth and development. The 1tr is a VAPORWARE.

Fastest growing economy is not just a one-variable analysis. A lot of factors are involved. Nigeria is growing nowhere. You have 220m people (they don't know what that means in terms of human capital and per capita human capital index), generating a GDP of $300B/annum, and growing at 4%/annum. That's not real growth.
Africa's fastest-growing economies I like the distinction between reform and resource-driven growth

On-Farm Adaptive Trials (OFAT) On-farm adaptive trial methodology tests, modifies, and verifies agricultural technologies (such as new crop varieties, fertilizer rates, or management practices) directly inside working farmer fields to fit local agro-ecological and socio-economic conditions. @Orania reminds me of OFAT methodologies. I grew up in a research institute and partook in OFAT methodologies with some Agric Extension buffs. It was successful and led to a mass adoption of new varieties of maize. Can Orania success be replicated across South Africa and most parts of Sub Saharan Africa by those who conducted the successful experiment? Are pondering what I am pondering? 🤔

The West!! For Your Information and Necessary Action.
Halima Cissé was 25 when doctors in Mali told her she was carrying seven babies. They arranged a flight to Morocco so she could get specialist care. At the Ain Borja clinic, doctors found two more nine in all. On 4 May 2021, at just 30 weeks, she had a Caesarean. Five girls and four boys were born, each weighing between 500 grams and 1 kilogram, small enough that they went straight into incubators and intensive care. Nineteen months later, all nine went home to Mali. They were the first nonuplets known to survive birth, a record later recognised by Guinness, and a case that looked close to impossible on paper.

Nigerian troops, in an operation that involved crossing a river into challenging forest terrain, have stormed an IPOB-linked criminal camp in Abator, Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, recovering a cache of firearms, ammunition and materials suspected to be associated with improvised explosive device (IED) production. The operation, conducted on October 1, followed the rescue of three abducted persons in the Osakwa General Area of Ihiala Local Government Area, prompting a coordinated security response involving troops and local security volunteers. At about 5:30 a.m. on October 1, troops of 185 Battalion, working alongside the local security volunteers, launched a follow-up operation that led to the arrest of a suspected member of the kidnapping syndicate, identified as Sunday Obi.

There's nothing western about events in Ethiopia. This is Ethiopias own mess...... The tigray war have been on even before 2017 I think. And the Ethiopian state have slaughtered lots tigray people....I mean millions like a genocide. Aside that Ethiopia is sponsoring secessionists in neighbouring countries like Somalia, Sudan, Eritrea.... Ethiopia is not a homogeneous country.... and it is a federation of tribes ... from the Amhara to Oromo to the Somalis and more. So not everything is WESTERN..... Let's stop blaming another continent for our problems. Ethiopia have been unstable for decades now aside the glossy capital.....it is a mess.

That's £1.99p = One Pound, 99 Pence. Your take looks like 199.1 Pounds? Factor in the variables of minimum wage and PPP between the average 'Tinubu buyer' and the buyer in the UK, you will have detailed facts-driven analysis and outcome. We are a very poor nation. A minor change in fuel prices will have a devasting effect on GDP, inflation, household and business income, employment and the general economy. You don't compare a $4.2tr economy with a capita income of $61,000 generated by 70m people and a $300B economy with $1,500 per capita GDP eked out by 220m poor quality folks. If there is an argument about the poor quality of capital (human and financial) amongst our lot, let me preempt with the Cobb-Dougoas Model for Productivity: Y=ALαKβ Y = Production (Output) A = Technology, Efficiency and Organization L = Labour Input K = Financial Capital There is an (α and β) output of the elasticities of labour and capital. We are a very poor nation with a very poor quality of labour and capital. Technology adoption is still at the early adopters phase in Nigeria. We have not reached nor even thinking of crossing the chasm. We are not in the same class with the UK. You can't juxtapose a $61,000 per capita GDP with $1,500 per capita GDP. Stop being clever by half.
