The longevity exercise everyone over 40 should be doing:
Plyometrics.
You lose explosive power faster than strength as you age.
And almost no one knows how to rebuild it.
Here are 5 beginner plyometric exercises to get you jumping again:
My earliest fitness memory: hanging from my dad's flexed bicep as a little kid.
To me, that arm was the strongest thing in the world.
Your kids are building that same picture of you right now.
What do you want it to be?
Most people think injuries come from poor posture or hips being out of alignment.
Wrong.
Those are outdated myths that still circulate on social media.
The real reason is much simpler.
Watch this if you're dealing with an injury.
Tight hips? Try this before you blame your age:
Lateral lunge.
• Step wide and sink to one side, other leg straight
• Keep the bent-side heel down
• Pause 2 seconds at the bottom
• Hold a light plate out front if you tip back
It builds adductor strength at full length.
Your Oura ring knows you slept badly.
So does everyone in your 8am meeting.
• Alcohol and big meals done 3 hours out
• Chamomile tea + 3-5g glycine, 30 min before bed
• Ear plugs, even in a quiet room
• Snore? Get checked for apnea
Give it 2 weeks, then check the ring.
Robert Downey Jr. was 43 when he filmed Iron Man.
Coming back from addiction, jail, and what looked like a finished career.
I trained him before he became ultra famous.
Here's what his transformation teaches you about what's possible after 40:
7. The real lesson.
At 43, with the right system and the right people around him, he pulled it off.
I've watched it work the same way with clients for 27 years.
The method that rebuilt him at 43 works exactly the same at 53.
If you're a man over 40 who's ready to build it, this is exactly what I do inside my R3 Method.
Restore. Rebuild. Return.
DM me "R3" and let's get started.
Modern life is completely mismatched with our body.
Too much sitting.
Too many screens.
Too much artificial light.
Not enough movement.
Not enough sunlight.
Not enough nature.
Then we wonder why we feel like crap all the time.
You can’t solve every problem with exercise and sunshine.
But you’d be surprised how many problems feel smaller after moving your body and getting outside.
You need physical work because you were a body before you had a mind. The mind should never be master of the body. Most problems of the body are caused by a mind that has slipped the leash of the body. Obesity, neglect, sloth are all due to minds that have lost touch with the wisdom of the body and its sense-making.
I've trained Ricky Martin, Robert Downey Jr. before Iron Man, and Richard Branson.
Here's what the ultra-successful understood that most people don't:
Your body is the one asset you can't outsource, delegate, or buy back later.
You need to protect it.
Your metabolism didn't break at 40.
You just move less, carry less muscle, and sleep worse than you did at 25.
Fix those three and the "slow metabolism" you keep blaming disappears.
I earned my jiu-jitsu black belt in my late 40s, rolling with guys half my age.
Got tapped, humbled, and beat up for years.
The lesson: you learn the most when you're the worst one in the room.
Stay a beginner longer than your ego wants to.
