The warrant FUD is real. But are we missing something?
Here is my question and it’s simple.
Why did
@ryancohen create warrants in the first place?
He gave
$GME holders the option to buy GME stock at $32.
Okay, cool.
Why?
In what scenario does this help GME or its holders?
If the stock doesn’t reach the strike price, then nothing happens. RC loses some credibility and wasted a bunch of time and effort.
If they reach, let’s say, $35, what happens?
Nothing, actually - if you compare the warrant vs. non warrant situation economically.
It’s actually a little annoying. For those that held the warrants, they can either cash in their $3 warrants or pony up for $32 per warrant for the stock. So most won’t even exercise. They will sell the warrants or exchange for current shares.
The same economic gain would have happened regardless, if there was no warrant, because the warrants will dilute the stock and net $0 in economic gains.
If the stock reaches $64, then maybe everyone exercises because you can do it without ponying up. But $64 is pretty far away.
Is there something hidden we are missing?
There really has to be. For something this well thought out and for
$GME to shed off some notes with such urgency - 1.5 months prior to warrant expiration, it appears to be a planned squeeze.
However, I don’t see the warrants forcing a squeeze under these conditions.
In order to force a squeeze, you really would need everyone to exercise in unison.
So here is some warrant tinfoil for the evening.
What would happen if RC changed the exercise price to $0?
Now that would be a problem that no one saw coming.
Every holder would exercise, instantly. The warrant price would immediately match the share price, which would also violently spike.
Brokers would have to deliver 69m shares, that they surely do not have.
And it would all be perfectly legal and completely unstoppable.
As everyone FUDs the GME warrants, perhaps consider that they are the single most powerful instrument on the stock market, right now.
There are not too many securities in the world that a company can completely, and legally, control their value with a pen.
The warrants are the ignition to MOASS.
And of course, MOASS is tomorrow.
Sleep tight.
