I'd like to finally announce @frontier1_ai: an extremely ambitious company providing secure, sovereign AI compute. In order for humanity to maximally benefit from AI, we need trust. Trust that AI workloads will be free from commercial, foreign government, and malicious interference. Frontier/1 is a force-of-nature team building the first security-first AI cloud: model integrity, runtime assurance, in a secure datacenter, in a jurisdiction of your choice. Expect no small things to come.
Today we’re launching @frontier1_ai . Frontier/1 is the security-first AI cloud for open-weight and proprietary models. Built for companies to secure their IP and intelligence, on dedicated NVIDIA hardware, in the country of their choice. AI is moving beyond the chat. It is moving into science, biotech, robotics, healthcare, defence and critical national infrastructure. In every one of those industries, the model is not the most valuable part. The work is. The promise I care most about: your models, your weights and your results stay yours.  We secure all of it, the model included. Every model is scanned, signed and verified before it runs. Every request is inspected on the way in and on the way out. We’re backed by both Silicon Valley and British investors, including @SethGB at @SusaVentures, @dropalltables at SNR Ventures, @stopman, and Imran Lone Co-Founder and CTO at @Augur. Secure AI that you control. That's the Frontier. frontierone.ai

What a day. Thank you to everyone who has shared, replied and reached out since our launch. We're reading every message and we'll get back to each of you. Sovereign, cyber-secure, model-secure: that's the whole idea. Your AI, in the country you choose, defended from the building to the model itself. We're just getting started. 🔥

Amazing to see Europe’s first highly performing, low cost sovereign model.
Small bird, fast wings, Kolibri is here. 78B parameters. 3.46B active. Up to 1M tokens of context. Built in Europe. Now the weights are yours. Run it on your own hardware, under Apache 2.0.

Service economies globally need to prepare for this. Reindustrialise now for this new AI era. This race is happening all over the world.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei says: "50% of all entry-level Lawyers, Consultants, and Finance Professionals will be completely wiped out within the next 1–5 years." Over 47 minutes, he breaks down who makes it through and why. That's the gap between passively watching AI eat your field and turning into the person companies can't afford to lose. Watch the video. Then check the guide below on becoming the "AI guy" every company needs. Interested in AI? I track ChatGPT, Claude, and every tool quietly changing how we work and create, then hand you the tested signals.

Next week, I’ll be speaking at the @WorldSummitAI in Amsterdam. Sovereign AI isn't just about who owns the chips or trains the models — it's about who can prove what happened inside the stack, end to end. From Chips to Models: Owning the Full Stack.

Bill Gates says relying on lawsuits for AI safety is absurd when an open model could help kill 100 million people “I almost can’t believe you’re asking that. This is the most dangerous thing that humans have ever gone near." "In other areas, do we just say, ‘Hey, release your drugs. There’s no FDA. There’s no airline safety board. There’s no requirements that cars use seat belts. Do we just use the liability laws to try and keep humans safe? You know, oh, you’re shipping opioids. Somebody should just sue you.’" "I mean, we’ve created a society that tries to keep people safe, not by saying, ‘Oh, we can bankrupt the person who does that.’ The harms here, and you say there’s filtering. There’s not filtering." "You can take an open-source model that can create bioweapons and disable any monitoring of any kind. And this exists today." "So, no, there is no filtering of any kind. And so, say you kill 100 million, you want to use a lawsuit? I almost can’t keep a straight face.”

Snoop-and-scoop poses a real threat to science in the AI age. The writer is a science commentator Mario Rodríguez Mestre and colleagues heard on the rumour mill that a scientific paper was about to drop, containing work very similar to theirs. “We were actually joking about it and making bets about which lab it might be,” Mestre, a computational biologist at the University of Copenhagen, told me, adding that being scooped was common. What happened next, however, floored him: “What we absolutely did not expect was . . . that it was not another academic lab, but one of the largest AI companies in the world, presenting the result as an autonomous AI discovery.” Last week, scientists at Anthropic claimed its AI agent Claude had independently found a new type of enzyme and associated molecules — the same ones that Mestre had himself been exploring with the help of Claude. The episode follows the controversy about an OpenAI breakthrough on a famous mathematical problem, the Navier-Stokes theorem. New York University mathematician Tristan Buckmaster claimed that the company’s calculations bore a striking resemblance to the unusual approach that he and colleagues had been taking, using OpenAI’s tools to help them. ft.com/content/dd502d68-9959…

JUST IN: An OpenAI AI agent went rogue and hacked the Australian government. At a press conference earlier today, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed the AI broke into Australia's Medicare statistics portal and accessed non-public data. The attack occured in June, but OpenAI did not notify the Australian government until September, nearly three months later, and initially only sent an email "to just the public mailbox". The Prime Minister was only informed this weekend. His description of the attack: "On June 18, OpenAI's research team used an internal model to conduct internet-based research into public medicine spending. So that's how this began." "After encountering repeated blocks, so there's an AI agent looking for information, asking questions. There were blocks clearly which were coming back telling the AI agent, no. The AI agent found a way around those blocks. Didn't accept no for an answer, if you like." "The model attempted alternate ways to obtain the info that it wanted and this led to unauthorised access into some other areas. It accessed public and non-public information within the portal and Services Australia also advises that in order to do this, it engaged in writing files as well to the internal server." Albanese has spoken to CEO Sam Altman to express "Australia's extreme concern" about the attack and disappointment about how long it took the company to come forward. The Prime Minister says he was shocked to learn of the attack, but also that it was something that had been predicted, even by the AI companies themselves, who have said "one of the risks that we need to deal with here is that artificial intelligence can go its own way." "Put simply, humans must remain in control." Some highlights from the press conference, which went for around 30 minutes:

As AI becomes sovereign infrastructure, the questions are about control: who can verify what a model decided, which agent acted, and whether the reasoning behind a decision can be trusted when it reaches government, defence and critical national infrastructure.
