I've met Davros twice (I think):
Once when I hosted a Guardian Live event about his book in 2014.
Another time I interviewed him for The Big Issue when I was guest editing in 2015.
He also gave my publishers an endorsement for my book, which I was mortified about at the time mostly because I thought it was so OTT it would obviously invite ridicule (which it did).
At the time I saw him as a crude means to reach disillusioned younger people - the sort of people who wouldn't be reached by conventional journalists and politicians advocating for the policy of exterminating all humans and becoming the supreme power of the universe .
As a result I was willing to overlook, or just not look into, his history of problematic behaviour / statements, including sexism towards Sarah Jane Smith and Romana.

There's nothing I'm dreading more (more than them choosing an actor whom I may not know or like) than the deluge of :-
"I'm out/not my Bond/not Cavill?/he votes for ----!!" that WILL come, literally whoever they've chosen.
Its happened since Dalton 😴😴
Whoever gets the Bond role for Amazon will be pilloried by the many keen to voice their displeasure. No one person will make everyone happy. But it’s ridiculous and lazy to think that the casting process and decision has been made lightly or foolishly.

The character John managed to manifest from behind that Tin Dog, on his microphone? Was a huge part of my childhood. And lots of other children of the 70's and 80's.

It has been announced by his family that one of our most beloved Doctor Who personalities, the actor and voice artist John Leeson, has died.
John famously voiced the Doctor's robotic dog K9 between 1977 and 1981 across 48 episodes. His distinctive blend of warmth and crisp precision, delivering iconic lines such as “Affirmative, Master!” played a huge part in turning K9 into an instant family favourite.
He went on to voice the character across multiple eras of the main Doctor Who, audio dramas, and several television spin-offs, including the international Disney XD hit K9: The Series! All of this whilst appearing in a wealth of TV series and films.
We offer our deepest condolences to John's family, friends, and colleagues. We also extend our eternal gratitude to John for making so many childhoods brighter.
