I do wonder what the counter is when we face a floor spacing big that will punish us with how much we play drop with Luigi on the floor but theres time to learn that

I really like some of Willards defensive adjustments mainly using Simmons as a full court press player

We won’t be going live tonight or this week just due to travel schedules and timing. But we will be back next Tuesday. You got another week to wallow in that collapse

Villanova has made just two baskets (non fouls shots) in the final 10 minutes of this one. Brutal collapse.

this is indicative of the state of college basketball and I couldn't hate this more
A stat that may explain Villanova’s decision:
The last season before Covid, there were 50 true road games played by power-conference MBB teams against opponents from outside the power conferences.
This season, there are 11 such games.

We will end up talking about this more on the podcast, but the more I sit with it, the more I hate this. I understand the desire to try to optimize but frankly this is running scared because we don't want to play road games. There's nuance to everything but overall I come away extremely disappointed in this, it truly is a new and different era not just in College basketball but in Villanova basketball history.
The current format of Big 5 men's basketball will end after this year, and the immediate future has the 5 non-Villanova schools playing round-robin without the Wildcats.
Villanova didn't want to keep this format, and another could not be agreed on.

While it's lost a little bit of luster, I think keeping up within the Big 5 should and always remain a key part of what makes our program unique.
I'll be curious to learn more about what we were willing to do and what other proposals were had and call me a boomer but just not what I wanted to see.
