BREAKING: A 44-year-old citizen of Iran Reza Dindar, aka Renda Dindar, was sentenced today in US District Court in Seattle to 18 months in prison for his scheme to violate trade sanctions against Iran, to ship sensitive technology to Iran via China
Dindar was arrested in Panama in July 2025 at the request of the United States & extradited to the U.S. in April 2026. He pleaded guilty to two counts of exporting to an embargoed country and two counts of smuggling goods from the United States.
The judge imposed a $10,000 fine and three years of supervised release to follow the prison term.

UPDATE: Starbucks is closing roughly 250 underperforming stores across North America.
The coffee giant has confirmed TWO Seattle stores are part of the new closure round. Only one has been identified: 999 NW Leary Way in Ballard
The second Seattle location has not yet been identified.
Separately, the Starbucks at 1700 Seventh Ave. in downtown Seattle is also closing, though it has not yet been confirmed as part of the 250-store round.
Starbucks Workers United says 20 of the roughly 250 stores being closed nationwide are unionized.
