When I sell a gin and tonic while bartending i say this to the guest and every time they look at me like I’m an idiot so I concede and say it’s a joke from the simpsons but last night someone caught the reference and it was so epic. We talked about our favorite the simpsons’s.

There's a blizzard episode in the 90s where Marge asks "How will the kids get home from school" and Homer answers "The Internet?" and ever since that's been my go-to answer for questions about how someone's getting somewhere.

I think we all have a bit of Simpsons in our lexicons. Even someone who never really watched the Simpsons probably picked something up from the Simpsons without realizing it.

It was the greatest cartoon ever made for a time. Love old school Simpsons

Its legacy is best felt in the TBS seasons of American dad.

Someone else tagged a barstool guy in this. What’s the significance?

I recently walked into a bar just as someone got a drink with a lit sparkler attached. I heard the cry, “The beacons are lit! Gondor calls for aid!” I waited a beat and said, “And Rohan will answer!” Turns out it was the bartender, who’d been waiting years for the proper reply.

The reason why my husband &I are together is bc of a Simpsons quote. We were at a Thai restaurant w/a big group (had mutual friends but had never met before) &someone else asked how his food was. I was the only one who caught the reference &here we are 25 yrs later w/two kids.

Yes! Keep doing you. I met my wife in college years ago because she's probably one of the only girls who could respond to a random Space Ghost Coast to Coast comment I made. We were at this party and some kid was from Kentucky, so naturally I said "Ahh, Old Kentucky Shark" to which my future wife responded "Ah yes, my documentary. They told me it was stupid and grossly inaccurate"

but that's such a great stand alone joke even if it wasn't a Simpsons reference! one of my favorite inside jokes i play on people is saying something really dumb to see if they'll believe im that stupid and how they would handle a dumbass friend.

Man, my conversation is littered with things I saw on tv thirty years ago and thought were funny. Have managed to get my twenty-something kid in on half of them.

Yeah it’s even harder to find a customer who’s a Shaun of the Dead fan but I keep trying at every place I work

Honestly of the thousands of simpsons quotes I recognize, this one may have slipped past me before now. But probably would have recognized that it was a joke. Now I can counter with asking if you have a bowling ball of Bathtub Mint Julip instead

When I get on an elevator I always acted surprised and comment “this one goes to 11” just to see if anyone gets it. I occasionally get a smile.

People talk about how much they love Homer's reading glasses, but his green jacket is underrated

I like gin & tonic and yes, if you’d said that to me I would’ve thought you were nuts, but I appreciate it!
