gRPC in Java used to mean proto files, code gen, build plugins, server wiring, client channels. A lot of busywork before "hello world." Spring Boot 4.1 fixes most of it. If you can build a REST app, you already know the moves: โ†’ define the contract โ†’ drop in a @GrpcService bean โ†’ inject a stub on the client Full server, client, and in-memory test, from scratch ๐Ÿ‘‡ github.com/danvega/hello-grpโ€ฆ

Not built in yet (open request: spring-grpc #339). For browsers, use gRPC-Web with the Servlet server. Want plain JSON over HTTP? Front it with Envoy, or write thin Spring MVC controllers that delegate to your gRPC beans.
