SRC changed their terms of use yesterday, and released a news post with an FAQ. They make it sound like not a big deal. It's a big deal. The Creative Commons licence is gone. They claim ownership over the data now. Thread about what this means, and what we can do about it 🧵

What can we do? - Export your own runs - Talk to your game's mods. - Ask Elo directly (mail, their news post, discord) Not asking to switch to my leaderboards, I don't give a shit about that. This is about much more. Community backlash to this has changed their mind before.

I wrote a blog post to go deeper into all this and to spread awareness. Please read it to dive deeper into what this all means. therun.gg/blog/leaderboards-… I spent like 10 hours reading through the terms to really understand it, but I'm not a lawyer. This is not legal advice

Would seasonal leaderboards be a good idea? Would they motivate you to do runs to get a good time each month/quarter/year?
22% Good idea, grinding
32% Good idea, not for me
46% Don't really care

What would be best? Month, quarter or year?

therun.gg/tools/retime sure, here's a seperate standalone page for it :)
Replying to @therungg
Oh my god this is amazing! Do you think you could make it work with custom links too? So we can finally stop using vidtimer for races

On therun's leaderboards, the default landing page lets you see an overview of all categories. This is also available for IL's and Category Extensions. This is configurable per game. You can also choose have users land directly on the first leaderboard. pretty cool no?

As an aside, IL's and Category extensions are just category groups on therun. You can define groups for your categories in any way you want, and they will be shown grouped. This allows for much more flexibility.

Leaderboards have a ton of tools to make moderating boards easier Here's the built-in retime tool: frame skip to the start frame, press start, automatically skip to the end, press end, and record time. Doesn't have to be hard! Works for both twitch and youtube VOD's

For the last 2 years I've been building leaderboards on therun. Today, they go in beta. I'm looking for communities to test them out. Not to switch over, purely for testing. Import your board from SRC in a few clicks, poke around, let me know what you think. Added some screenshots for impressions :) Contact me here or through discord if interested to test stuff! Features: - Auto-submitted PB's directly from LiveSplit - Board overview page - Cross-category standings - Advanced mod tools (auto-verify, retime tool, large amount of flexibility) - SRC import of your runs - No ads, no paywalls, no selling any of your data - Full board and game exports, data is always yours - Familiar layout, settings, configuration - Much more to list!

I created the ultimate pace pal tool When going to the /live page, every run now has a big green button on the top right called "Commentary". This opens a panel with all info about the run you're watching that you need. Small thread below to explain all the things it does :)

The fourth tab contains stories. This is a human readable format of some of the interesting facts about the current split, the previous split, about the runner in general, and about the run in general.

And lastly is some global information about the user and their runs. Total playtime, total attempts etc. Go check the tool out over at therun.gg/live and let me know what you think. I think it's super cool to pace pal with :)
