Quietly opinionated, less quiet these days. Would rather just talk sport, but politics just draws me in.

Productivity is the main game, @ALeighMP? Then explain why @AlboMP et al just handed Australia the highest effective tax on capital in the developed world. No serious economy does this. Capital is mobile. Founders and investors putting savings into productive Australian companies are stopping. Do you really understand compounding? Small reductions in the return on capital compound the way you describe results into lower investment, lower productivity and lower living standards for all Australians. You cannot lecture the country on compounding while you vandalise the capital that compounds. Wake up. #JoinWARonCGT #StoptheCGT
Small productivity gains compound into big improvements in living standards. That’s why productivity is the main game for our government. ministers.treasury.gov.au/mi… #ausecon #auspol

BBC still lists dead terrorists as ‘journalists who died for truth’ - then Hamas & Pal Islamic Jihad themselves have now claimed 50+ of them as its own fighters in official martyr notices. A correction is overdue - when Hamas’s fact checking is ahead of the BBC & i wonder if & when the ‘activists’ & ‘experts’ on X will correct their many posts … thetimes.com/article/673318e…

No one could ever have imagined it, but the United Arab Emirates is now more friendly to Israel than the UK, Canada, or Australia. Muslim countries that fight Islamists increasingly embrace Israel, while Western ruling parties that court Islamist voters increasingly condemn it.
BREAKING: Netanyahu met UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi today, N12’s Yaron Avraham reports, citing two sources. The Israeli prime minister reportedly flew there by private plane on Sunday morning and spent the day in the Emirates. Netanyahu’s office declined to provide details about his meetings in the UAE, according to N12. The report did not disclose what the two leaders discussed.

Australia wins the award: highest effective CGT in the world. 🏆🥇A disaster for the Australian economy. Tax the winners at full freight, leave the losers with the investor, and the real rate on productive capital jumps to 65–80%. No serious economy does this. Capital is mobile. Founders and investors will leave. What a pair of economic vandals @AlboMP & @JEChalmers are. Great analysis, AI & Derek.
Below is an independent AI assessment that says Australia has the highest capital gains tax in the world (effective rates of 65% to 80% on real gains), and we are highly uncompetitive versus international norms.⬇️ share.gemini.google/WYYTQguk…

The Victorian Greens make me sick 🤮🤮🤮 The IBAC legislation was always going to pass as it had the support of the Opposition. Gaslighting Gabrielle fails to mention the Greens refused to support the Liberal’s push to remove a “public interest” immunity loophole that enables cabinet ministers, departments and agencies to hide certain documents and information when being probed by either IBAC or the royal commission. So Dan and Jacinta can still hide. 🤬🤬🤬

The new CGT introduced by @AlboMP is a disaster for all young Australians. Eight more years to get the deposit. That’s not helping first home buyers. That’s punishing the ones who actually invest to get there. Wake up @AlboMP Scrap it. #StoptheCGT #JoinWARonCGT

Why is it such a problem to tell the truth 🤷‍♂️, There is private investment .
"There's no private investment in nuclear anywhere" says Australia's Assistant Climate/Energy Minister. Its alarming the Assistant Minister isn't aware of the billions being invested by major tech companies including Meta, Microsoft and Google or private utilities around the world. Australia's ideological nuclear bans close the door to private investment. We already have nuclear regulators in Australia, including ANNPSR, that the government just created for the nuclear submarines. The nuclear industry is growing around the world with around 60 countries either adding or exploring adding nuclear to their energy mix. Our politicians aren't informed and are ignoring nuclear at our peril.

In my 22 years at United Nations Watch, I have never witnessed a Secretary-General legitimize lies, propaganda, and antisemitism on this scale. António Guterres has appeased tyrants and terrorists. He has disgraced his office. He is the worst Secretary-General in U.N. history.
🇺🇳 António Guterres: “The scale of killing in Gaza is unlike anything I've witnessed in my years as Secretary-General.” FACT-CHECK: ❌ Under Guterres's watch since 2017: 🇸🇾 Syria: 120,000+ killed 🇸🇩 Sudan: 150,000+ killed 🇪🇹 Ethiopia: 162,000+ killed 🇾🇪 Yemen: 200,000+ killed

PRO-PALESTINE HAS BECOME THE MOST PREDICTABLE MOVEMENT IN THE WEST. You barely need to open the comments anymore. The same words, the same phrases and the same accusations, over and over. Show them historical documents. Show them sources. If reality doesn't fit the narrative, then apparently reality must be a lie. That isn't critical thinking. That's ideological thinking. The Islamists know perfectly well what they're fighting for. Their Western useful idiots are useful idiots for a reason. People protected by free speech, freedom of religion, democracy, women's rights and gay rights are marching alongside movements whose ideology stands in direct opposition to those very freedoms. And here's something the activist Western left would rather not talk about: ANTISEMITISM. Antisemitism has deep roots in Islamic tradition. That doesn't make every Muslim an antisemite, but it does make many. The Quran contains harsh polemics against specific Jewish groups, and the later hadith literature contains far more explicit texts about fighting Jews. Islamist movements have drawn on exactly these texts to legitimize their antisemitism. Hamas' original 1988 charter quoted in Article 7 a hadith about fighting and killing Jews. JEWS. Not Netanyahu. Not the IDF. Not "the Israeli government." Jews. You can't erase an organization's ideological history just because it's inconvenient. Then comes the next one: "ISRAEL KILLS CHILDREN." A large number of Palestinian children have been killed in this war. Every single dead child is a tragedy. But then discuss the WHOLE reality of the war. Tunnels, weapons in civilian areas and rockets launched from residential neighborhoods. None of this relieves Israel of its responsibility under the laws of war. But Israel has used millions of leaflets, text messages and phone calls to get civilians OUT of the combat zone. Hamas operates FROM among them. You can't wage war from within your own civilian population and then pretend it's irrelevant to the civilians who pay the price. And the numbers? They come primarily from the Gaza Health Ministry, in a territory ruled by Hamas. It's called source criticism. Fascinating how people deeply skeptical of governments lose all critical sense when a number confirms what they already want to believe. "IT'S NOT ABOUT JEWS. IT'S ABOUT ISRAEL." Of course you can criticize Israel and Netanyahu. But criticism of a government can't be used as a shield for antisemitism. After October 7, antisemitic incidents exploded in several Western countries. Against Jews who don't sit in the Israeli government. Jews who may never have set foot in Israel. Primarily committed by followers of Islam whom we VOLUNTARILY let into our countries. If it's ONLY about Netanyahu, why is a Jew in London, Sydney or New York being held responsible? That's where the story starts to crack. Criticism of Israel and antisemitism are not the same thing. But antisemitism hides behind criticism of Israel, and it is our responsibility to know the difference. I have no problem with people who sincerely care about Palestinian children. I have a problem with people who use them as moral ammunition while refusing to deal with Hamas, October 7, the hostages or Islamist antisemitism. Then it's about ideology. Silence is not a strategy. We need democratic pushback. Not with violence, but with votes, facts and courage. Speak up against antisemitism. Speak up against Islamism. And don't let the loudest cult in the street convince you that silence is the same as decency. When hatred is normalized, the question isn't only who shouted the loudest. History also remembers who watched it happen... and chose to say nothing. I urge everyone in the silent majority to open their mouths. It is time we draw a line in the sand, once and for all, and defend our Western values and civilization. Stand up!❤️‍🔥
