Sounds so very familiar .. although, I was assured on here that Mexico was running circles around Canada in trade negotiations by those who always conveniently forget that Mexico and Canada really aren’t the problem.
Progress toward a U.S-Mexico tariff deal has stalled after opposition from Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, people familiar with the talks said, the second time that he has had a hand in upending advanced negotiations with a North American partner. on.wsj.com/4k5aKwy

Lâchage d’un lâche
🚨 BREAKING: Zelensky confirms Ukraine received no intelligence from its partners last night Since last evening, Russian forces have attacked Ukraine with more than 100 weapons, including jet-powered drones, loitering munitions and ballistic missiles. A significant number were intercepted, but unfortunately not all of them, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said. In particular, Russia launched what Zelensky described as a particularly treacherous ballistic missile attack on Kyiv, with five missiles striking civilian infrastructure. “Unfortunately, there was no warning from our partners about this attack,” the Ukrainian president stressed. Intelligence on Russian ballistic missile launches is crucial for saving lives. Zelensky also noted that Ukraine had refrained from striking Russian oil refineries for two days following Trump's announcement of an energy ceasefire. Russia, meanwhile, continues to bomb civilians.

US-owned steel plant with a plant in Middletown OH begins mass layoffs amid Trump tariffs: In a memo sent by Cleveland-Cliffs to workers, the company explicitly linked the move to Trump's steel tariffs on Canada, which it said had "significantly shrunk the market" for its products. yahoo.com/news/us/articles/u…
Community note
Cleveland-Cliffs' layoffs (up to 500 workers) are at its Stelco plant in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, due to US tariffs on Canadian steel imports. Its Middletown, Ohio plant has no such layoffs and is receiving a $1B upgrade investment. newsweek.com/us-owned-canad… manufacturingdive.com/news/cleveland

Look, if this is what it takes to get some of North America’s best public parks, bike infrastructure, pedestrian streets, new light rail lines, free health care and really good bagels in my city, I will gladly embrace the Québécois tradition of chansons à répondre. 🇨🇦

The PutiNobel Committee is delighted to award the inaugural PutiNobel Prize to Donald J. Trump for his outstanding performance as a fully remote-controlled puppet, string-free, self-winding, and still somehow convinced he’s the one pulling them.

This relentless focus from MAGA on trying to destroy Canada is really very strange and disturbing. I don’t think it’s such a hot take to say that Canada is a friendly country that no halfway normal American has any beef with.

As an Alberta MP you should probably know we are the only G7 country without a strategic oil reserve because we are the only G7 nation that is a net exporter of crude. National strategic reserves are maintained to meet an obligation to the IEA to hold 90 days of net imports on hand. That obligation for Canada is zero barrels. There is ~95 million barrels of private storage in Canada. Strategic reserves protect importers from supply disruption, not cost. Product released from reserves still generally enters the market at the global price. To truly get the price down, we need to resolve global challenges with supply and refining capacity. We’re keeping prices down in Canada by pausing the excise tax on gas, giving a groceries and essentials benefit to those who need it most, and working with provinces and companies to increase global supply, alleviating upward pressure.
Why doesn’t Canada profit from releasing oil and diesel from our Strategic Petroleum Reserve? Because we are the only G7 with no reserve. Our Conservative plan changes that. Build a strategic reserve to profit Canada, boost our dollar, lower fuel prices, and make us more independent: conservative.ca/cpc/emergenc…

Classic controlling ex. Pressure and threats first. When the partner stops complying, the smearing starts, the history gets rewritten, it was always all tier fault, and the promise is they'll come crawling back. You’ll see. When they don't, the contempt gets louder.
President Trump declares Canada is "one of the worst countries in the entire world."
