The pandemic fundamentally broke a multi-decade alliance and relationship of trust between teachers’ unions and parent voters. With declining enrollment, it won’t be reparable for more than 1-2 decades and I’m not sure anyone has fully processed what this means politically.
SFUSD teachers are still on strike. They’re asking families not to do the independent study worksheets. They’re also asking families to donate cash to them because they’re not getting paid while on strike. But please keep telling me this is all for the kids.

Good time to push radical changes that focus on outcomes for students not dollars for unions. Teachers should be rewarded for great outcomes.
