Counter-Strike 2 has introduced its first brand-new game mode in three years, with Valve unexpectedly unveiling Rush, a fast-paced 3v3 matchmaking mode focused on capturing and holding strategic objectives rather than simply eliminating opponents. The mode marks the first completely new gameplay experience created specifically for CS2 since the transition from CS:GO, answering long-standing community calls for fresh content.
Rush sees players permanently assigned to either the Terrorist or Counter-Terrorist side for an entire match as they battle across a series of arenas. Teams must capture and control a central tower objective, progressing through a seven-part campaign toward the enemy's ‘castle’ to secure victory. With 15 unique arenas available and a randomised map selection for each match, Valve is starting Rush with a broad enough base of content to make every game feel different.
Could Rush become the long-awaited answer to content drought, or will it fly under the radar as the community awaits improvements to anti cheat?
