🔴Joint statement by the Communist Party of Greece and the Communist Party of Turkey on developments in Greek-Turkish relations The dangerous developments unfolding in our region – which lies close to and is affected by the  front lines of imperialist wars and plans in Ukraine and the Persian Gulf – are triggering a worrying chain reaction in the Eastern Mediterranean, in the Aegean and in Greek-Turkish relations. This is because these relations, which are currently shaped by the rivalries and strategies of the ruling bourgeois classes of both countries, also involve the interests of other bourgeois classes and imperialist powers, such as the US, NATO and the EU. Against this backdrop, the impact on Greek-Turkish relations of the tensions between the bourgeoisies of Turkey and Israel has recently become increasingly pronounced, as has the strengthening of the political, military and economic ties between the bourgeoisies of Greece and Israel, posing risks to the peoples. This ‘tangle’ of contradictions reflects how the ruling classes and monopolies will divide up the region’s energy wealth, how they will map out the transport routes for energy and commodities, and how they will strengthen their positions within the global imperialist system. These rivalries have nothing to do with the working class and the peoples of Greece and Turkey! The workers are not in the same boat with capital! It is the workers in both countries who are suffering the painful consequences of the preparations for war and who risk becoming cannon fodder, in bloody conflicts that may be provoked for foreign interests, for the profits and interests of the bosses, the capitalists and the monopolies. The Communist Party of Greece and the Communist Party of Turkey, grounded in proletarian internationalism and internationalist solidarity, representing the interests of the working class and the people, are fighting against: Military spending and war preparations. Nationalism and racism. Border violations and the challenge to the international treaties that have established the borders in the region, as well as threats of all kinds. Furthermore, we condemn attempts to use military force to create a fait accompli in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as the arms race between the two countries, which is laying the groundwork for military confrontation. We support the position that borders and the treaties defining them must remain unchanged. We are fighting for the two countries to break free from imperialist schemes, and for the withdrawal of military forces from NATO and other imperialist missions abroad. We are fighting for the withdrawal of our countries from the imperialist alliances of NATO and the EU, to drive out US and NATO bases from our countries, and against the relations between the two countries and Israel, the state that murders the Palestinian people. The Communist Parties of Greece and Turkey appeal to the working class and other popular strata, for it is now essential to strengthen the joint struggle of the two peoples against the plans of the bourgeoisie and the imperialist alliances. We demand that the will of the two neighbouring peoples be respected – their desire and demand to live in peace – and through their joint struggle they can become leading forces, paving the way for the overthrow of the system of exploitation and war, and for a new socialist society. tkp.org.tr/en/agenda/joint-s…

🟤TKP Central Committee sent a solidarity message to the Communist Party of Israel on the exclusion of the joint list from the elections: We would like to express our strong condemnation of the decision to bar the Joint List, which includes the Communist Party of Israel and Hadash, from participating in the elections. This attempt by the Zionist forces is completely unacceptable. For many years, the Communist Party of Israel and the Hadash front, led by the party, have been the voice of conscience and the sole hope of the people in Israel. They have constituted one of the most important pillars of the just struggle of the Palestinian people, who are oppressed under the yoke of Zionism. It is clear what the Zionist forces are seeking to achieve. They fear the result that the Joint List will obtain in the elections and are attempting to silence the voice of the Israeli communists. However, preventing Hadash or Comrade Ofer Cassif from participating in the elections absolutely does not mean that their struggle can also be prevented. The Communist Party of Israel will continue its determined struggle, which it has waged for many years, under all circumstances. In this struggle, the Communist Party of Turkey will always stand alongside the Communist Party of Israel. @Hadash_org

🔴TKP statement on the recent developments in the Saudi-Yemeni conflict and the AKP Government’s intention to involve Turkey You will not drag our country into a war against Yemen alongside Israel, the US and Saudi Arabia! “Saudi Arabia should look in the mirror. Who brought Yemen to this state? Look at the state Yemen is in today. Have tens of thousands of people not died in Yemen? Saudi Arabia, you must first answer for all this.” Those were President Erdoğan’s words in 2019. Today, Erdoğan and the AKP government seem only too eager to join that very same Saudi Arabia in a war against Yemen. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan now claims that Saudi Arabia has come under serious attacks from Yemen threatening its territorial integrity and sovereignty. Insisting that “we stand by our word”, he added: “They may have military needs, particularly in certain technical areas. We would have no problem meeting them.” So let us remind Hakan Fidan and the AKP government of a few things. You did not even bother to bring the Mecca Agreement before parliament. You cannot now use it as a pretext to join attacks on Yemen without first securing the approval of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. If you’re so keen on war, bring the agreement and the decision to go to war to parliament for a vote. Then look the people of this country in the eye and vote “yes”. Let’s see you do it. You will not drag our country into Saudi Arabia’s inhumane, illegal war of occupation in Yemen. We will not allow this neo-Ottoman government to resurrect the Ottoman Empire’s bitter “Yemen legacy”. You will not make Turkey complicit in the crimes committed in Yemen by Saudi Arabia, Israel and the United States. The people of this country will not be made party to the disgrace of slaughtering the people of Yemen who courageously resist Israeli and US aggression. TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan and well-known Turkish journalist Barış Terkoğlu met with readers in İstanbul for the first public event for recently published interview-book, "What’s the Point of Being a Communist?”, based on Terkoğlu’s questions and Okuyan’s answers. A large audience followed their lively discussion on capitalism, politics and communism. Okuyan argued that capitalism has long reached an impasse and is now decaying, while growing social discontent can take destructive directions unless it meets an organized political alternative. His message was clear: communism is the only way forward for humanity.
