Sports betting apps are clearly gambling. Also, today gambling is repackaged & renamed "futures trading" or "prediction markets" in popular apps like Kalshi. Calling gambling "trading" is nothing but deception. "Trading" and "market exchanges" -in Islamic Law- are only good & permissible when you are exchanging permissible specified goods/services for permissible specified goods/services, with permissible specified terms and conditions. Just betting on things under the name of "futures trading" or "prediction market exchanges" is just a pathetic attempt to hide the major sin of gambling. Do not trick yourself out of obedience & servitude to ar-Rahmaan and into the traps of Iblees. Today people are just betting on the weather and other events, calling it "futures trading." This might work around some non-Muslim government rules & be legal to them, but Muslims are guided & keen, and they know their sworn enemy tries to constantly trick them into impermissible things by renaming them with seemingly permissible names. The Prophet (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) foretold this: ليشربن أناس من أمتي الخمر يسمونها بغير اسمها "Certainly, some people among my ummah will consume intoxicants, naming them with other than their actual names." (Musnad Ahmad, from the report of Aboo Maalik, authentic) Fear Allah, the Most High, abandon gambling in all its forms & clever labels, and do not argue with falsehood to defend destructive major sins! Shaykh al-‘Allamah Salih al-Fawzan delivering a lesson during Hajj this year. The senior scholars are a tremendous blessing for this Ummah. It is upon us to benefit from them while they are still living, for they are examples of knowledge and wisdom. May Allah preserve him.

The current movement back to anonymous screen names & burner accounts on social media must be viewed as part of a larger theme of backtracking & cowardice witnessed from a people who had previously been blessed with clarity, humble cooperation & leading roles in returning matters to the scholars at one time. May Allah rectify their affairs. Such people are actually reviving the filth of AYHAorg & other forums of chaotic slander that Allah had saved us from so many years ago, when we held fast to the specific insight of our scholars who asked us to implement THIS advice, directly & specifically, in our online forums: bakkah.net/en/ubayd-advice-i… We saw tremendous benefit, almost IMMEDIATELY, when our brothers at Sahab & SalafiTalk implemented this advice, as Shaykh 'Ubayd said (may Allah have Mercy on him): Fitnah was subdued. Knowledge & clarity spread. A sense of responsibility & accountability increased. The people of knowledge were given their right places. Knowledge literally shined & prevailed! But today -Allah al-Musta'aan- we see shameful backtracking from people who know better! Back to hiding behind burner accounts & anonymous trolling to vent their frustrations! I guess since they have ruined themselves in disgrace & show no ambition towards rectification, they do not mind trying to burn down the da'wah they used to serve & further ruin more of their own efforts on their way out. May Allah save us from their evil.
