Video obtained by Townhall catches Rev. Jim Rigby, the pastor and longtime mentor of Texas Democrat U.S. Senate nominee James Talarico, on undercover video praising democratic socialism.
“Gandhi and Martin Luther King were democratic socialists.”
“That’s the next chapter, and it’s not this horrific thing. It’s like, that’s what the rest of the civilized world calls sanity.”
Talarico has attended Rigby’s St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church since he was two years old. Rigby baptized Talarico, married his parents, and delivered the invocation at his swearing-in ceremony.
Talarico himself said in 2020 that capitalism was one of three “oppressive systems” that needed to be dismantled.
But today, Talarico’s campaign says he’s a “proud capitalist.”
