Dear friends and followers, I want to apologize for being absent from here recently, especially with the renewed U.S. aggression against Iran and the ongoing Israeli genocidal war on Lebanon. I am currently undergoing treatment related to my latest war injury. My main right leg nerve was damaged, and over the past few days I underwent surgery at Ragheb Harb Hospital in my hometown in South Lebanon to remove deeply embedded shrapnel from my thigh. I am now facing a difficult recovery while dealing with neuropathic pain medications and an intensive treatment plan. Most likely, I will not be able to return to field reporting or resume regular updates for at least another week. I hope the recovery will not take much longer if nerve reconstruction ultimately becomes necessary. There is another piece of news: I am using this period to launch a new media project from South Lebanon, different in both format and scale from my previous work during last 2 years, both personal work and with FPTV. It will place a deeper focus on the issues facing South Lebanon from multiple perspectives, in several languages, and in collaboration with outstanding friends and colleagues from Lebanon and around the world. Your constant support, messages, and concern have given me even more reason to continue my work as a journalist documenting the impact of war and reporting on events despite everything my people, and I personally, have endured, including the heavy loss of many loved ones. I will do my best to turn this period away from publishing into an opportunity to build a project that is even more effective at exposing realities on the ground and bringing truth and knowledge to everyone following what is happening on us in this part of the world. I wish that were the case, because "Houthi" is the title of the leader of the Yemeni revolution, Sayyid Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, while the entire population participated in the September 21, 2014 revolution. Therefore, you should call us by our true name: Yemenis or Ansar Allah (Supporters of God). The US no longer seek legal justification for its actions. The so-called “War on Terror,” for instance, redefined the temporal and spatial limits of war not through consensus, but through the unilateral capacity of the United States to impose a borderless battlefield.   What we are witnessing now is a partial inversion of that process. Iran’s enforcement of regulatory authority in the Strait is not merely a legal claim—it is a materially grounded practice, enabled by its capacity to project force in a geographically strategic chokepoint. Law here does not precede power; it is articulated through it. Iran’s position is effective not because it is legally unassailable in the abstract, but because it is backed by the means (force) to enforce a particular interpretation of maritime governance.
