The timing of Olamide’s O2 announcement and Asake playing the same venue just days ago is very interesting. Two artists connected through the same musical ecosystem. There’s something to that and I like the strategy behind it.

Jay Z recently sold out Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with his catalogue. Olamide is now taking his own catalogue to The O2. Different generations, different markets but the same reminder of what a deep catalogue and years of cultural relevance can build. Longevity is an asset.

One day, I want to be at the centre of the global live entertainment business. Building relationships across the industry, telling the stories behind the biggest shows and helping shape conversations about where African music goes next. I'm working towards it.

Chelsea's best performance this season. Game well managed. Very matured showing from our front 4.

Tems already established her London demand with 2 nights at Eventim Apollo. Opened for Coldplay across 4 nights at Wembley Stadium. Just co-headlined All Points East UK. Her next London show will make her the first African female artist to headline The O2 Arena. Will be back.

I actually think her team is getting this right. They booked Shepherd’s Bush, demand showed she could do more and they've now upgraded to O2 Brixton. Effectively adapting to the market. Burna’s MSG show was a landmark, one-off US show for Afrobeats at the time.
I wish Ayra's team would take more risk with her. Whether it works out or not but take risk. Burna took that risk for the msg in 2022. I think they should be taking bigger risks in hotspot zones. With proper promo, she can do OVO arena at the very least in the UK.

The "Afrobeats to the world" boom sparked by digital consumption and TikTok's global carriage between 2020-2022 led several companies to place substantial bets on Nigerian pop music. Sadly, or quite realistically, a bulk of these bets didn't pay off. Mainly because the reality of the local market was lost in the giddiness of the global boom. Now, these companies have been making aggressive readjustments. The money has been drying up, it's still drying up. Three years ago, a budding producer with a decent catalogue could demand upwards of $50K in publishing advance and often get it with little pushback. Today, getting $20K is incredibly difficult. In meetings, you're told how previous bets didn't pay off and how they now adopt an ultra-conservative approach to valuation and funding. And perhaps the most frustrating thing is there's no one to blame for how things played out. Both the investors and the players had their eyes fixed on a shining new market while completely ignoring the gross deficiencies of the local market. The chickens have come home to roost and we are faced with the reality of our market. A reality that we must fix ourselves.

I don add GRATITUDE join this list. What Asake did on that record is undescribable. Top 2 Asake alongside REMEMBER.
Asake's WHAT'S UP MY G, I BELIEVE & REMEMBER!! My jams!! Top 3 songs off the Work of Art album and arguably top 5 in his discography.

Dear Afrobeats fans, Touring is a long game. The goal isn't just to fill rooms today. It's to build enough demand to fill bigger rooms tomorrow. Ayra Starr is currently building market by market and laying the groundwork for what's sustainable for her career in the long run.

Listening to FOLA’s 9 album. What in the Asake was FOLA doing on that “Attention!” record??!! Checked the production credits and saw Magicsticks. Then it all made sense. Beautiful record.
