FORGOTTEN ISLAND is a zany, wildly entertaining and heartfelt family adventure that is filled to the brim with dizzying creativity and absolutely stunning animation that left my jaw on the floor. This wonderful story of friendship plays like a mashup of Eternal Sunshine and The Hangover, a combination that simply shouldn’t work on paper but does so effortlessly and earnestly due to the steady, assured hands of Crawford and Mercado at the helm. Like with their last feature, they have a clear respect for younger audiences, unafraid to tackle more mature themes and storytelling for children, shining a light on loss, grief, memory and loneliness all the while delivering plenty of laughs and boatloads of heart with endless energy. Dreamworks has truly stepped up their game with their last few creations and this is easily one of their finest hours. Couldn’t recommend this one enough for the whole family! Full review soon.
