When I created Raspbian for the Raspberry Pi, I was excited to help bring low-cost compute into the hands of a next generation of tinkerers and programmers. However, I now despair that a Raspberry Pi can cost upwards of $300 because AI shortages are making personal computing unaffordable. Furthermore, bright young people are being discouraged from learning programming because they are being told it is now a commodity skill that AI will do. I have to ask myself what it was all for. Is this the future we were promised? If so, I'm starting to regret my part in it.

A posted factor is the one crypto claim anyone checks in a single division — that's why it's credible, and it's the whole point: the break happens in the open. But you don't find a 130-digit prime "by testing randoms by hand" — that's ~10^127 candidates, so the real story is compute, not luck. And 862 bits is the decimal-digit challenge name, not your 2048-bit key: classical, no quantum, ~33 bits past RSA-250 (2020), nowhere near real RSA. Security you can trust is what survives open attack — even then, only for now.
