🚨🚨 𝗠𝗔𝗝𝗢𝗥 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: Diogo Dalot is set to leave the Portuguese National Team after Ronaldo was humiliated by Jorge Jesus:
“I have given everything I have for this shirt, and I have never taken that lightly. But I need to be honest with you. I am seriously considering withdrawing from the Portugal national team.
What has happened to Cristiano Ronaldo is shameful. The coach treated him with no respect. A player who has carried this country for twenty years was told, again, that he would start on the bench, and then he was left to walk out of the camp alone.
That is not how you handle the greatest player this nation has ever produced.
And then, immediately, they handed the number 7 to Rafael Leão. No pause. No dignity. No recognition of what that shirt means. That number is not just a number. It is Cristiano. Giving it away the moment he leaves the camp is not squad management. It is a message. It says he can be replaced overnight, and that the history he built does not matter.
The jersey should have been retired. Instead they chose to mock him.
Cristiano has told me, more than once, that he feels disrespected every single day. I used to think some of that was the pressure that comes with being who he is. I can see it with my own eyes now. I will not stay in a place where my idol is treated like this.
I also have to say something about our own people.
After everything Ronaldo has done for Portugal, the ingratitude is hard to watch. Before him, Portugal had never won a major trophy. He gave us three. Euro 2016. The Nations League in 2019. The Nations League again. He did not do it alone in the dressing room, but on the pitch, in the moments that decided those tournaments, he carried us. The records, the nights, the finals, that was him.
There is more I could say. I won’t. My decision is not final yet, but I will not represent a setup that shows this little respect to the man who made this team what it is. Cristiano deserved better. From the coach. From the federation. From the country.”
