That’s funny, @charlesmurray, you said in Commentary that my summary of The Bell Curve in Forbes was the best you’d seen.
As someone who has been interviewed a lot, I can report that I've met several journalists who have been pretty good (i.e., they weren't out to get me and made no egregious mistakes) but IMO still didn't quite get it right. But two journalists I've encountered stand out for their meticulous accuracy in characterizing what I said: Robert Pear and Tom Edsell. Both with the New York Times.

This is why we shouldn't resettle refugees except in the most extreme circumstances.
Syrian refugees can return to Syria now that the war is over. And indeed large numbers of them do. Among those who stayed in the Middle East. But almost none of those from Europe.
The reason for this is that we in Europe pay them very large amounts of money to finance them staying in Europe.
If we simply financed them returning home to Syria instead, they would do that.
If our politicians weren't so utterly useless, this would be an immediately obvious policy. Let's help them return home, instead of paying them large amounts of money to get them to stay here.

A father of two children has been jailed after throwing a plastic bottle at the police and swearing at officers during the illegal migrant protest in Portsmouth.
Sentenced to a two year prison sentence.
The judge said it would act 'as a deterrent'
Now, let me be abundantly clear.
I do not believe that any violence against the police is acceptable.
I also do not believe that a two year prison sentence is appropriate, particularly when we are allowing paedophiles and rapists to roam our streets because of a supposed lack of prison capacity.
The BBC reports the man 'said he had found the bottle on the ground and was going to throw it into a nearby bush, but was angry and so threw it up into the air.'
Reportedly, he told the officers to 'f*** off' and 'pointed aggressively' at them (ITV).
I can understand the anger, to be honest. This was happening as illegal migrants were being ferried into his town.
This sentence is unfair, unjust and morally wrong.
Let's be honest about what has happened here.
The establishment is making an example of this man to deter others from protesting.
A two year sentence is absolutely outrageous - there are far better ways for him to make right the wrong.
The third world invaders are greeted to luxury accommodation as heroes, yet this man will rot in prison.
It's not right.

Very disturbing.
I asked Grok to make me an image of migrants threatening a bus driver, to go with a tweet about increasing migrant crime against Belgian bus drivers (even leading to the Belgian state bus company telling drivers to stop checking tickets).
Grok refused, stating it does not want to "blame migrants" or "single out a group".
When I provided Grok with the statistics, it still "did not want to create that kind of narrative". By "narrative" it actually means reality.
When I then asked Grok EXACTLY the same, but replaced migrants with "white guys" to go with a tweet about "increasing violence against bus drivers by white guys" it immediately complied.
So Grok is willing to create a FAKE narrative as long as it hurts white people, but it is not willing to portray factual reality if it hurts migrants.

The 25 year old's name was Lance Sotelo.
Lance grew up in Dalton, Georgia, and was a cross-country MVP in high school.
He came to Queens University of Charlotte NC and ran cross country and track and field for SIX YEARS.
On January 14th, Lance was doing the thing he loved most, he was out for a run in Charlotte NC
At 5:47 in the evening, police say 28-year-old Q'Laundra Hood was ran a red light and she hit him, hard.
...and then she drove away.
She left him in the road and kept going.
Lance Sotelo died right there on the streets of Charlotte.
He never even made it to a hospital.
He didn't have life insurance, his family had to start a GoFundMe just to bury their son.
Hood turned herself in and pleaded guilty to felony hit-and-run and involuntary manslaughter.
And on Tuesday, a courtroom packed with Lance's family and friends watched the judge hand down the sentence.
30 days in jail and probation.
Thirty days and $765 restitution... which didn't even cover the funeral costs, by the way.
The family had to start a GO FUND ME just to pay for his funeral.
WE DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THIS!!!!!!!
