I miss Andrew Breitbart. More so at times when political fervor has neared critical mass. His uncanny ability to whittle through the subterfuge at a moments notice drove the legacy media absolutely nuts.
These days when you see the name, for better or worse Steve Bannon comes to mind. It wasn't always so. I found Andrew Breitbart's BigGovernment site in 2009, and back peddled to
Breitbart.com from there. It was a bit like Drudge (where he'd worked) but with a sharp right hook.
And there was this guy, Breitbart. He was sharp as a tack, quick witted and set about his business with a determined ferocity journalists in my lifetime have rarely managed to muster.
He fearlessly strode through the craven Occupy DC encampment across from the Wardman Hotel in DC, bullhorn lecturing the miscreant agitators to "Stop Raping People" during CPAC 2012. The man was an entire force into himself.
When Congressman Anthony Weiner (husband to Hillary Clinton's hand maiden) posted photographs of his dick on twitter, blamed it on a hacker and named Breitbart as the culprit, Andrew preempted Congressman Weiner at his OWN press conference and called the represented media out for their Democrat Party protection scheme to their faces. It was glorious and, like the gentleman he surely was, he refused to provide the press any addional photos of Anthony's dick, even though he could have. Instead he held court, at Anthony Weiner's podium, using Anthony Weiner's microphone, rightfully demanding an apology from both Congressman Weiner and the press for slandering his name and being bad at their job.
I miss his insights, his energy and his intellect. This brief clip I think summarizes what he recognized so clearly, and what conservatives would do well to remember: politics is downstream from culture. ✌️
