Lots of anger from people about a policy proposal that would ultimately allow more women and people with breasts to be screened in a timely way bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c367…

Everyone who needs a mammogram should have what they need in order to make them as comfortable and likely to access care, including having their scan done by a woman if they prefer.

But there's no reason why women who are happy to have their scan done by a man should be forced not to, extending wait times for everyone. It seems likely an opt-in scheme may be most appropriate, with a clear message that everyone can still recieve care from a woman if wanted.

More and more this year I have realised how much ableism and transphobia are intertwined and that things aren't going to get better for trans people until we seriously address that ableism both within and outside our communities.

Celebrated six years with my partner by changing a pull cord switch on the ceiling, which given he has a chronic illness that affects standing up and I have a condition that impacts my dexterity is a sign that our relationship is still strong!

Relationships & sexual health education should be inclusive of all bodies. It’s crap that this is still an aspiriational notion rather than something already actively taught.
"The future I would love to see is the possibility of being intersex being mentioned alongside male and female puberty... I think knowing it was a thing earlier in life would have helped me understand my body so much better." - Barnie #IntersexFutures

If palliative care was fully funded, access to it universal, pain relief controlled by patient, mental health a key component of care, how great would be the need for #AssistedDying? Need to know this because otherwise we are talking about AD as the solution to a flawed system.

this is great reporting but wait until people find out that, for a lot of us, the wheelchairs we need *every day* aren't free, either

This is not a comment on the report at large but I remain eternally frustrated that every time there is an 'independent' report on sex/gender/trans people there are issues that show a lack of familiarity. Your can update your birth certificate when you get a GRC.

Was in a room last night filled with mostly medical and allied health professionals and academics. It was really interesting to see what differs in their approach to disability - it feels like a big (important) gap to bridge if disability studies is going to impact healthcare

Just a reminder - we dont even have data on how many faculty in higher ed are disabled. Bc higher ed has made it too dangerous to disclose for most. For anyone worried that "too many" disabled ppl are making it in academia idk what else to say.

Honestly wish the railway would treat every failed assistance as a safety issue. Because it either directly is, or it's a near miss where changing the passenger or circumstances slightly would pose a safety risk.
A failed assist is not an inconvenience. This is such an overused word that is totally inappropriate in these cases.

Once again, offending rate does not equal reporting rate, does not equal conviction rate, does not equal imprisonment rate, does not equal percentage of a prison population convicted for a particular offense.

It's plausible that the number of high profile successful convictions of trans women for sexual offenses, which gender critical groups have contributed to the visibility of, have influenced any increase in trans women in prison for similar offences.

There could also be lots of other factors involved, including random variation, as the number of people in question is small. (And to be clear, I'm not saying anything about innocence or guilt here)
