Tbh I like the addition. It changed the atmosphere and narrative of the scene more than you think and changed it up a little for the live action format. The particles of dirt and sand in the arena make the fight more gritty, and sell the idea of an underground fighting ring better which could have been difficult to do within the animation budget of the original
