jee was never a hacking exam. it’s a filter for 15 lakh kids and a few thousand public seats.
you also don’t crack jee advanced by mugging ncert. if board toppers automatically landed in iits, this take would already be true. they don’t.
a lot of iit/nit students never touched a computer before campus and still became solid engineers. some are at google. some are in quant. some went into ee, civil, mechanical. fields the country still needs.
if you replace jee with prior coding, ctfs or hackathons, you don’t suddenly find hidden geniuses. you select the kid who already had a laptop, wifi, and a parent who knew what a ctf was. pcm is blunt. at this scale it’s also one of the few filters that’s hard to buy.
people worship AIR. that’s real. it still doesn’t mean iits produce npcs, and it doesn’t mean the exam killed technical talent.
cybersecurity in india also doesn’t pay like core swe. talent follows money. want more hackers? build labs, pay properly, give compute. don’t blame a nationwide seat filter for not selecting your niche at 17.
india keeps rewarding mugging up PCM and then wonders where the hackers went.
JEE is not computer science. GATE is not cybersecurity. rank is not competence.
our examination fetish is killing technical talent:
