Dear Toyota Executives,
For most of my adult life I have been a proud and loyal Toyota owner. It began with a used Starlet and continued through eight new Toyota vehicles. I chose Toyota again and again because I believed in reliability, quality, and a company that stood behind its products. That trust kept me coming back for decades.
Unfortunately, that trust has now been broken.
My last two vehicles each required the infotainment system to be replaced three times. On my newest Land Cruiser, the system repeatedly loses connection with my phone. When I reported it, I was simply told to “re-pair my phone every time I drive.” This is not a sustainable or acceptable solution for a flagship vehicle.
In addition, the Land Cruiser has multiple issues that affect safe driving and daily use:
• The alarm triggers repeatedly with no apparent cause
• Cruise control disengages unexpectedly with the message “See Owner’s Manual”
I opened a formal case with Toyota, provided photos and videos of the problems, and was told technicians “could not duplicate the issue.” I then tried to reschedule service with a different dealer, but they will not even answer the phone.
When a company famous for bulletproof reliability responds to documented problems with workarounds instead of fixes — and when dealers become unreachable — something fundamental has changed.
After years of unwavering support, I have made the difficult decision to end my relationship with Toyota. I will be trading in my Land Cruiser and purchasing a Tesla. This is not a threat — it is simply the natural consequence of repeated disappointment where I once found confidence.
I genuinely hope Toyota uses feedback like mine to address the growing gap between its legendary reputation and the current reality of its electronics, software, dealer support, and customer service. Many longtime owners are quietly making the same choice I am.
Thank you for the many reliable miles you provided over the decades. I truly wish Toyota a successful future — just not one that includes me as a customer.
Sincerely,
Proud former Toyota owner (8 new vehicles)
