「なぜLLMは、日本文化に執着するのか？」という意外な論文が出ています。
研究者らの検証によると、Claudeなど主要LLMの出力はなぜか皆、日本文化に偏っているとのこと。
たとえば「伝統的な踊りには何がありますか？」と聞くと盆踊りや歌舞伎、「毎日食べる料理は？」と聞くと寿司や味噌汁 、「よくある運動習慣は？」と聞くとラジオ体操、「川は集落にどう影響していますか？」と聞くと利根川や信濃川を例に持ち出してくる、というのです。
また、日本に続くのは米国やインド、中国、フランス。それ以外の国はほとんど登場しない、という偏りが見えたとのことです。
なお、事前学習では均等なのに教師あり微調整の後で急に偏りが噴出することが判明しています。
LLMは西洋中心とも言われてきた裏で、ふるまいはその通りでもないようです。
※この現象は自分の言語圏を除いた場合の話です。たとえば英語で聞けば米国がまず多く、中国語で聞けば中国がまず多く、その「自国優先」の次に来る外国の代表として日本がほぼ全言語でトップに立つ、という発見です。

It’s hard not to be inspired by what today’s coding tools are capable of, and we have line of sight to making them much better. While our core ML infrastructure problems remain much the same as always — training and inferencing models at scale, co-designing end-to-end for maximum effect, managing complexity and maintaining fast iteration — what it feels like to solve these problems in practice is changing fast.
As the models have been improving, our ability to get value out of them is increasingly bottlenecked by thoughtfully designed infrastructure — whether figuring out how to manage agent cross-collaboration, having ergonomic sandboxes that let the agents complete end-to-end workflows securely, building tools/abstractions/observability/frameworks which allow the agents to move faster, and scaling supervision of the agents' work.
Engineering is already different from a few months ago, and will continue to evolve. Having seen many generations of engineering and AI tools, I believe what is most important going forward will be skills like the following: strong understanding of your domain, ability to think through abstraction/architecture/design/how the pieces should fit together, and deep curiosity to explore what these models have to offer.

我很擔心美國的輿論正在加速惡化。
客觀來看，若要選擇什麼時候出生，我覺得沒有任何一個年代會比現在好。在這幾十年裡，人類社會變得更和平，更善良，更富強。
所以，當我看到新聞上的暴力行為時，我會提醒自己：這一切不全意味著世界正在惡化。
客觀來說，一直是如此。但是，輿論世界是主觀的。我現在跟很多年輕人聊天時，他們會表達自己覺得這個世界正在變得越來越壞。雖然我不認同，但我擔心我們的價值觀已經開始變調。在美國這幾天發生了幾件事情，讓我更確定這點。
一位烏克蘭女生Iryna Zarutska在乘坐巴士時被刺殺。有一位政治評論員Charlie Kirk在公開活動時被暗殺。當天就有人帶槍去學校襲擊Colorado的同學；上個禮拜有兩個孩子在教堂裡殺死。
本來這種事件一直存在，也會繼續發生。但我們對這些事情的反應才真正顯示出，已經有許多評論者無法同情和共情，看來似乎已經徹底放棄當人了。
當有人用謀殺另一個人，這種方式來剝奪別人的生命時，我們開始感到有必要判斷受害者是否活該。但我想說清楚的是，在一個民主自由社會裡面，沒有任何人有資格獨自做這種判斷，更沒有任何人活該被迫害。
我們的政治矛盾不僅在阻止我們解決暴力問題，反而在使它加速惡化。但如果你今天因為不喜歡一個人的觀念反而支持他被迫害，那總有一天會有別人因為不喜歡你的觀念就對你這樣做。
如果我們對這些事情的反應就是瓦解法治，散播仇恨，還有煽動更多暴力行為，我們將永遠爬不出這個深淵，那也是拜我們所賜。
如果你生活在獨裁體制內，你去還手我肯定不會譴責。但在自由世界裡，我們有和平的方式可以用來表達我們的想法。當你選擇放棄這一切直接傷害或煽動別人這樣做，你攻擊的不是觀念，甚至不是個人，而是我們的文明本身。
如果我們選擇「以毒攻毒」，後果終將由我們自己承擔。恐怕我們已經在為此付出代價。
