Microsoft announced Project Zenith, a Windows configuration built for developers
Project Zenith is a Windows 11 setup with consumer apps removed, languages, runtimes and dev tools preinstalled, and file extensions and hidden files shown by default. Microsoft says it runs 30B plus parameter models locally with no metering or cloud token costs. It requires at least 64GB of high bandwidth RAM and launches first on AMD's Ryzen AI Halo mini desktop. The memory requirement rules out a lot of independent developers.
