Ma! One of Gau Matas in our farm delivered a calf the day-day before. Unfortunately, due to calcium drop, she was not able to get up yesterday nor could she relive herself, causing a huge amount of bloating in her tummy. The young calf, unaware of her predicament, became restless before it was fed through a bottle. A kind vet came in, put her on calcium drip; she reacted adversely. He kept his nerves, administered a few injections before her body could take the calcium dose. Starting at 5 in the morning when she was discovered almost unconscious, the medication and procedure went on till 3 in the afternoon after which she stood up. The calf had been fed twice in the interim. The first thing she did after getting up was rush to the calf and offer him her milk. She had returned from the brink and yet the first thing she did was to make sure her offspring was fed and comforted. Motherhood is something that can't be explained in words. #JaiGauMata (She is good now; fed him today. For the next 21 days, all her milk is for him. Then the gradual shift will happen over the next six weeks and he will start eating grass and fodder)
