Real talk. It's easy to bitch and moan about the number of WordPress security releases we've seen over the past few months. I get it. Updating and checking sites takes time, especially when you're responsible for dozens (100s?) of them. But those releases also mean people are finding vulnerabilities, reporting them, and doing the work to fix them. Researchers and maintainers are taking responsibility for software that millions of people depend on. That's a sign of a healthy community. It doesn't make the vulnerabilities any less serious, or put WordPress above criticism. It does give us a response we can examine and fixes we can apply. And “I'll just build it with AI” doesn't get you out of any of this. Neither does switching CMSs or writing everything yourself. Whatever you build still needs security review and ongoing maintenance. A working website can still be a vulnerable website. Fewer public security reports don't automatically mean fewer security problems. Personally, I want people looking for flaws in the software I use, and people committed to fixing what they find. I'm glad WordPress has that community. If you're building your own alternative, who's doing that work six months after launch?

Hello friends! I’m so excited to open founding enrollment for my new course, Vibe Coding Products for Scrappy Founders. I texted someone inside a simulation. She had to go upstairs and find her phone before she could text me back. The video model didn’t decide what happened. This is Argos, my stateful simulation engine, rendered through H3 using Fal Director. Thanks to @fal for the generous credits helping me bring it to life. Underneath the video is a persistent world: characters, objects, locations, and systems. The characters have their own cognition, memories, and goals. They choose actions; the simulation determines what actually happens. Her phone has a location. Messages have delivery and read states. Typing a reply takes time. If I move the phone before she gets there, it’s gone—even if she remembers leaving it there. Argos turns those changing world states into instructions for H3 to depict. You can also see her character thought stream. The video currently trails the simulation a little; I’m working on aligning the two. Next: connect this to SMS, so you can text someone inside the world and receive their reply. Or whisper an impulse into her thoughts and see whether she follows it. The bigger ambition is a world that keeps growing while its characters inhabit it—with agents writing and maintaining the simulation’s systems. I’ll be building more of this in public. Not just a video that looks like a world. A world that keeps existing underneath the video.

What I imagine for the block editor. I’m cruising along and I need a block that doesn’t exist. I speak it, type it, screenshot it into existence without context switching. The conversation is happening right there in the editor. The guardrails are there because it’s coming directly from WordPress. The blocks are local to that site, but could be synced to the cloud where it can then be part of a private repo, public repo, marketplace, etc. Thinking out loud. Be gentle.

At WordCamp US, I talked with a few people about how AI is like cryptocurrency. Expecting everyday users to connect an MCP is unreal, just like expecting them to manage their own crypto wallets—it's simply not feasible. We need an "easy button" and a framework that makes it very simple to connect agents and tools. Think about how long it took typical website users to understand two-factor authentication or SSO. I believe the biggest opportunity now is similar to what Plaid does to connect banks with various fintech providers securely, but for linking all MCP providers in a very user-friendly way. Otherwise, we’ll end up with only a few providers, and those will be the ones everyone uses.
