In 1977, a yoga pioneer and psychic heiress to the Sheraton Hotel fortune began using ketamine to make contact with a #nonhuman intelligence she called "the Network," a hierarchy she believed was training her to leave her body for good.
Fourteen months later, she vanished without a trace.
Marcia Moore and her anesthesiologist husband documented it all in journals fueled by escalating doses of the drug: leaving her body, meeting an ancient version of herself in a mirror, and communications she described as encounters with "space brothers" guiding her toward a threshold. Weeks after finishing the book, she disappeared from her own home outside Seattle. Her shoes were still by the door. Search teams and dogs found nothing, not even a footprint. Two years later, hikers found her skull three miles into the woods. No other remains were ever recovered.
Our investigation traces her final months in detail, including a chilling warning from neuroscientist John Lilly, the man who invented the sensory deprivation tank and spent years alone in it on ketamine, communicating with what he called the Earth Coincidence Control Office.
He told Moore his own experimental subjects had ended up dead, driven off cliffs, or reduced to what he described as robot-like states, taken over by something not their own. Weeks later, so did she. We also examine the small hole found in her skull that forensics could never explain, and the competing theories her own family and readers have offered for decades, hypothermia, suicide, ritual harm, institutional intervention, or, in the words of those closest to her own beliefs, that she finally crossed into the world she had spent a year learning to reach.

Interesting, sad. Why not mention the theory that the husband did it? Wandering into the woods is not normal K behavior, it's immobilizing at high doses. You stay in place and have "out of body" type experiences, don't take difficult hikes.
