Until 2013, the Mormon Church taught that slavery was sanctioned by God and that black skin is the result of a divine curse which will be lifted at death if black people are righteous, after which they will become white. Why on earth is this church growing fast in Africa?
Mormons: One Of Christianity’s Most R*cist Groups What do you really know about the Mormon Church? What did the founders of this church really believe about the world? And do the friendly smiles and demeanors of its missionaries across the globe today symbolize sincere intentions, or hide a dark truth? In this report for The Spearhead, @okorieuche_ sheds light on the history of one of Christianity’s most r*cist denominations.

The first time I came to Ghana was in 1995. I was 5 years old and I stayed at a hotel in Dzorwulu that no longer exists called Secaps Hotel. It's been 31 years in and out of Ghana since then and I now even have a Ghanaian passport. In all this time, "Ghanaians hate Nigerians" has been such a popular internet phenomenon, but I have never seen it in real life. I don waka this country from Elubo to Takoradi. I've been to more places in Ghana than most Ghanaians, and the fact that I am Nigerian has never at any point put me in danger or ruined anything for me. The closest thing to discrimination that has ever happened to me was one time in 2023 when I was in Accra for a few weeks and I needed to rent a car, but the rental agency I found on Jiji wouldn't rent to me because the identity document I submitted was Nigerian. And even then, I simply moved on to the next agency and I rented a car immediately 🤷🏿‍♂️ Some people are spending a lot of energy trying to force one weird beef that does not exist in real life. The other day I went to Madina market to fix my phone screen and I literally could not distinguish between "Nigerian" and "Ghanaian" because those guys all speak this mix of Igbo and Twi and you legit cannot tell who is who until they speak English and you hear their accent. "Nigeria vs Ghana" is a very interesting internet phenomenon, and I'd like to witness it in real life one day. It's been 3 decades and I'm still looking for it 🤷🏿‍♂️
And another thing, @DavidHundeyin has made me (us) aware of the West's plan to divide Africans and turns us against each other. Because this sudden noise about Ghanians hating Nigerians and Nigerians hating Ghanians is news to me.

As far as I am aware, the fact that Ghana has freedom of press does not mean the press has freedom from feedback. You seem to be offended at the notion that you can be publicly called out for what has been put out using your face and your voice. Have you forgotten that this is called "social media", which is an entirely different ball game from the old unidirectional media? You think this is traditional media where information flows in only one direction? In any case, regardless of your disingenuous explanations that nobody asked for, the basic facts are that: 1. The US government offered your African country a dangerous and shockingly disrespectful "partnership" that stated among other things, that your FDA has no authority to examine or certify whatever medicines would be brought into your country under this "partnership", and that your country has to submit its citizens' health data including biological samples to the US; 2. Your government (thankfully) rejected this slave contract immediately and told the US government to kick rocks, as it should; 3. DW then commissioned you to do the piece in question examining "the other side" of your government's decision to reject a slave contract, as if where there is a simple life and death issue concerning 33 million Africans, the 'death' side is somehow worth examining - as if DW would platform "the other side" if Ghana told the German government to submit medical data of German citizens to Ghana and stand down its BfArM so that Ghana can import whatever medicine it likes into Germany without any scrutiny; 4. You, as a gormless and guileless African journalist who can barely think beyond next month's payment cycle accepted this assignment (or possibly even pitched it yourself because you know what the commissioning editor wants), and proceeded to do the report, which was essentially a series of stupid and unnecessary questions that basically amounted to "Ghana's government claims that Ghanaians deserve to breathe air, but may the American grim reaper who thinks otherwise actually have a point?" It is precisely this kind of uncritical, tap-dancing, low-self-esteem buffoonery that The Spearhead exists to tackle in African public spaces. Sometimes the problem with a story is not even what it said - it is that the story exists at all. The US government is openly acting like a pirate around the world, stealing Venezuelan oil, bombing Iranian schoolgirls and bullying Nigeria into signing weighted mineral extraction deals - when has DW ever commissioned you to tell "the other side" of those stories? DW is a German state media appendage. Germany itself is a US vassal country. You are not so geopolitically unexposed that you don't know this. So there is no way that if asked directly or nudged subtly, you would not have known that this report in question was US foreign policy propaganda slop aimed at an undermining an African audience's trust in the perfectly correct and valid decision taken by their government. You. Shouldn't. Have. Done. It. You knew exactly what you were doing when you allowed your face and your voice to be used as yet another black face of racist European/American imperial propaganda. There have been so many before you like this, and you won't be the last. So kindly dead this nonsense about "I admired your work and I support what you do" - no you absolutely do not. We are not on the same side, we do not stand for the same things, and I do not like you. I have also worked in international media, and once I realised that my voice was being used to push hostile foreign policy intended to exploit me and my people, I got off the bus and I walked! I understood that the interests of 1.5 billion people are infinitely more important than the few euros and dollars I was making from Jeunes Afrique and CNN. Maybe learn to see the world the same way then I will respect you more as a journalist and as a man. Finally, I stand by everything The Spearhead has published under my leadership and I wholeheartedly invite you to proceed with your legal threat.
David and the entire @Spearhead_Af team, I’d appreciate it if you made your viewers fully aware of the entire story and what its content says instead of chopping bits and pieces to spin a narrative about anti-Africa. I’ve followed your work, but if this is all it takes, you’d have to come again. The report you referenced is a two-part series on the health deal. First was Ghana’s rejection of the deal in its entirety. Subsequently, after President Mahama spoke to the deal, the embassy in Accra addressed a news conference where questions were asked, drawing the responses which are part of the news story. The report, which is reproduced for your audience, even captures President Mahama’s comments. This was a major news item in the country on September 28, where other major local news outlets reported on the same. Was that anti-Africa propaganda by most leading media houses in Accra? At no point in this news feature do I state my opinion on the subject. Your attempts to draw inferences and meaning where there was none are but a poor piece of journalism. I have followed your work and support what you do. I must say I have been left both surprised and disappointed that this is all it takes to put out a story. I’d ask that this poor piece of work be promptly deleted and an apology rendered for the nuisance you have constituted. A failure of which will leave me with no choice but to explore all avenues for redress, including legal remedy.

Nigeria was supposed to have 40 JF-17 Thunders plus a local assembly line by 2017 (which would have been Africa's largest 4G fighter fleet), but guess which State Department manchurian candidate became president in 2015 and immediately canceled the deal, pivoting instead to the steaming pile of US-sanctioned trash called A29 Super Tucano...

JD Vance recently put up a dog whistle making repeated reference to "fraudsters" and "illegal aliens" in a not-so-veiled reference to Somalis and Africans in general. @Big_Mck explores the inherent hypocrisy in the employee of America's biggest fraudster speaking about fraud.
The US Government Goes After "Fraudsters" While Ignoring The Ones In Washington: The Spearhead Reacts. US Vice President JD Vance recently put out a video purporting to convey his pledge to protect American citizens from "fraudsters and illegal aliens". In reality, the entire clip was 1 minute and 7 seconds of uninterrupted dog-whistling intended to misdirect the growing rage of the increasingly discontented US working classes at the most convenient group of usual scapegoats, while completely sidestepping the actual fraud taking place at the very highest levels in the US. Senior reporter @Big_Mck breaks it down in this reaction video

Is The U.S. Staging Another Invasion Of Haiti? On October 19, 2026, at the 10,246th Meeting of the UN Security Council (UNSC), US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz threatened Haiti with yet another US military “intervention”. He did not say this directly, of course. In the tired old style of US government parrots, he used Haiti’s 5-year-long, Western-imposed security crisis as the pretext for this “intervention”.

Ghanaian Reporter Parrots Western Propaganda About His Own Country, The Spearhead Reacts This April, Ghana rejected a ridiculous “health deal” offered to it by the US under the so-called “America First Global Health Strategy”. This deal would have seen Ghana hand its sensitive health data, medical records, and national pathogen profiles on a plate to Africa’s single greatest geopolitical enemy. So the Ghanaian government did what any sensible African government would have done. In this report for The Spearhead, @barrahart reacts to a @dwnews report on Ghana’s decision, hosted by a Ghanaian “journalist” who clearly doesn’t know where his African interests lie.

What could Africa have become had we not adopted so much c*lonial slop? Drop us a comment. Video credit: @teacherada_official

The thing about imperialism is that it is ubiquitous and impossible to avoid. Nigerians who think they can have intelligent discussions around politics, economics and business without acknowledging imperialism are just like a castrated man who wants to marry a wife and have kids, but doesn't want to acknowledge his condition. I'm sorry, but just because you're in denial, or the subject makes you uncomfortable, or you don't want to upset your white friends and investors by talking about it does not mean that this 800-foot elephant in the room is going to disappear. The imperial system you live under is why you eat imported rice and your bread is made with imported wheat, while your own agricultural land is used for industrial monoculture plantations growing export crops you can't eat like cocoa and cashew. Imperialism is why your kid goes to school wearing a neck tie, a wool sweater, a thick blazer and cotton socks while the temperature outside is 33⁰C. Imperialism is why you put on your TV news and the presenter is chewing her tongue desperately trying and failing to mimic the accent of a public school headteacher from Abingdon-on-Thames, whereas literally nobody in the history of her watching audience has ever sounded like that. Imperialism is why your central bank interest rate is always double digit, which means that consumer credit is literally nonexistent. No amount of roundtable sessions, seminars, and breakfast meetings with the bankers committee and PhD economists can change that basic eternal reality of your economy. Imperialism is why despite having double digit central bank lending rates, your currency somehow manages to always face inflationary pressure and regularly posts double digit percentage losses in a single day. You can do all the clever economic chart drawings and financial engineering you want, but they are completely useless in the face of imperialist decisions like Structural Adjustment Programs, which you experienced by other names from 1986 to 1988 and from 2023 to 2025. Imperialism is why you can have all your lovely ideas for leadership and governance, and a young population that is hungry for good leadership, but everytime you go into a "democratic election", you end up coming out with Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Tinubu. You can read all your "Why Nations Fail" and do all your "PVC sensitisation drives" and do all the "protect the votes" on election day, and at the end of all the wahala, the INEC chairman will announce that a crippled goat with craw-craw has won the election and if you don't like it you will go and meet Kekere-Ekun in court. Imperialism is why when you are having sex with your partner, you moan in English and make American noises even though you've never left Owerri before, and your sexual encounters always happen with a specific sequence that starts from oral and culminates in doggy - it's because all the porn you have ever watched in your life has been hosted and curated by American platforms, and you have over time taken on their sexual personality as your own. Imperialism is why you build with cement blocks plastered with concrete in your 34⁰C climate, even though concrete generates vast amounts of heat as it cures, and it can take years to fully cure, during which time it slowly cooks you in your own house - but rammed earth which your ancestors used is only just becoming a thing once again because white people have "discovered" it and put a brand on it that makes it desirable after they once labelled it as 'primitive'. I could go on and on. As long as you're determined to avoid confronting the ubiquitous and all-pervasive reality of imperialism in Nigeria, you're not really ready to confront whatever problem you are facing, from food to healthcare to education to public policy to poverty. If you're not acknowledging that underlying reality, you're just another Nigerian wasting their whole life performing the appearance of thinking, and creating useless content.

INEC cannot afford to be careless with the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral process. The presence of AI-generated images in a register meant to support our democracy raises serious questions about verification, transparency and accountability. Our democracy is at stake here!

If I were given the task by a foreign power to cripple a developing economy like Nigeria and reduce its 200 million people to a state of desolate, mindless nihilism, here's how I'd go about it. 1. Raise taxes indiscriminately and across board. Do so with zero consultation and make the announcement as abrupt as possible so as to magnify the shock value. 2. Institute multiple taxation and create entire new arms and functions of government centred around collecting new taxes and levies. Make this process as rapid and opaque as possible, and once again, ensure there is zero public consultation and maximum shock value. 3. Remove any subsidies on production (such as those on petrol and diesel, which power 87% of all production in Nigeria) and ensure that any consumer prices set by government (such as electricity tariffs) skyrocket. This ensures that producers not only raise prices but also pass the entire cost burden on to consumers instead of pushing back on the inflationary policies. Crippling consumer inflation ensues, followed by a debilitating cost of living crisis, the likes of which the country has never seen. 4. Make energy production and supply even more convoluted and mind-bending than they already are. Add new layers of corruption between producers and the energy they need. Insert my nephew's oil company into the nerve centre of national energy infrastructure and start a war against the country's only functioning refinery, which threatens to simply access to energy. Create a weird new national energy policy that avoids all the cheaply available energy reserves in Nigeria, and starts pushing weird stuff like "renewables" and CNG on an impoverished population whose cooking fuel is mostly still either kerosene or firewood. 5. Hire a central bank governor whose career at a certain international bank intersects very curiously with mine at a time when I was involved in illegal activity and laundering the proceeds through that bank. Naturally, he is 100% pliant and will do WHATEVER I want him to do without hesitation or pushback. And then... 6. Print money. Print it at a prodigious rate. Expand the money supply at a rate more than 3x that of what my predecessor did during the COVID years. Do all of this with zero parliamentary oversight, and spend money without any sort of appropriation or documentation. Literally print money out of thin air, purchase hard assets with it and watch the worthless fiat money disappear into the dark void of a 65% informal economy. Combined with devastating consumer inflation, an unprecedented cost of living crisis, crippling energy shortages caused by my new layers of corruption and weird energy policies, the national currency's value drops through the floor, falling 200% against the dollar in the 15 months I have had power. 7. Instead of working to build new regional export markets for my country's producers (which continue to function against all the odds), start throwing trade sanctions around ECOWAS and try to start a West African regional war on my country's northern border because France and America want me to. Where my predecessor attracted criticism for creating such close ties to our northern neighbour that he pushed for an economically unviable standard gauge rail line between both countries, I instead try to start a war with that neighbour and commit several violations of international law in the process - including possible war crimes. West Africa as a whole begins to pivot away from my country and my country's producers are left with zero export market and an impoverished local market that can't afford to buy anything. 8. PILE. ON. MORE. DEBT. Take on loans from EVERYWHERE AND EVERYONE. IMF, World Bank, African Development Bank, Zenith Bank, LAPO Microfinance Bank, pension funds, retail investors, osusu thrift credit society, EVERYTHING. If anyone questions it, throw bullshit statistics like "Low debt-to-GDP ratio" at them.
