Summary of Xcavate X Space
Richard H (CTO/Founder of Xcavate) recorded this update. Covered the project’s background, recent challenges, the shift toward Solana, near-term roadmap, and future plans.
Background & Team
Richard comes from a mechanical engineering and software background (apprenticeship, Coca-Cola production/process work, automated warehousing). He entered blockchain ~7 years ago with an idealistic focus on decentralization and “less trust, more truth.”
Co-founded the project with Alex (real-estate background) around real-estate tokenization/fractionalization (concept launched ~2022).
Built core knowledge and team via the Polkadot Blockchain Academy (UC Berkeley) and the Polkadot ecosystem. Developed the realXmarket application but faced significant regulatory delays.
Regulatory Journey & Current Path
Presented to the UK FCA at an autumn expo; accepted into the regulatory sandbox.
In September 2025 the FCA advised that real-estate investment is medium/long-term and unsuitable for the sandbox; they recommended withdrawing and applying for full permissions.
Team strengthened compliance capability. Preferred route is now operating as an Authorised Representative (AR) under a partner that already holds the required permissions (partner name not yet public; legal finalization underway).
Target: realXmarket live within ~3 months; Token Generation Event (TGE) within ~4 months (end of year).
Protocol Evolution & Move to Solana
White paper rewritten (with Dr. Annie Loo) around three pillars: self-sovereign digital identity, modular peer-to-peer learning, and real-world assets.
After ~9 months of work, the team concluded alignment with Polkadot had weakened, especially given Xcavate’s heavy regulatory focus. While still looking to retain Polkadot relationships and commitments relating to prior support but rebuilding the stack on Solana (“programs”/contracts).
Advantages on Solana: can leverage existing services such as the Solana Attestation Service (SAS) for identity instead of building/maintaining everything; better ecosystem partners for wallets, asset pools, and other infrastructure.
Existing XCAV token holdings (invested or earned via rewards) will be fully honored, plus additional rewards for delays (as discussed in previous AMA). Users will link/prove control of their Substrate wallets to Solana wallets; tokens will mint and vest on Solana by year-end.
New Initiative – realXhub
Expanding beyond pure RWA into “Real World Impact” (RWI) using blockchain + AI + practical Web2 elements.
realXhub: modular, decentralized cold-storage units aimed at reducing high post-harvest losses of perishable goods (up to 50% in parts of Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia). Units operate independently yet form a networked system for capital, AI-driven stock management, and a digital marketplace.
Pilot pathway: MVP physical model and campus deployment at University of East London (MOU signed; academic year start), then live marketplace testing, followed by real-world deployments (starting in Africa).
Additional government-level discussions (via university contacts) around blockchain/AI for real-world problems; MOUs in progress.
Digit Labs is pursuing UK SEIS/EIS tax-efficient investment schemes to support fundraising.
Overall Stance & Next Steps
Strategy remains utility- and demand-driven for the XCAV token rather than pure hype.
Core team intact; partners (including Rogue and Pluto framework) continue supporting protocol and community aspects.
Strong optimism after a difficult 12–18 months. Community feedback channels remain open (X, Telegram, LinkedIn, etc.).
Emphasis on frictionless user experience (abstracting wallets/seed phrases where possible) and multi-technology pragmatism rather than maximalism on any single chain.
Key near-term milestones
Finalize AR legal arrangements and go live with realXmarket (~3 months).
TGE / XCAV on Solana (~4 months / end of year. realXhub MVP at University of East London and related partnerships.
