Not a new trend. I rarely had enough money for food in college in the 80s.

I used to look in between the sofa cushions in the student union, and could sometimes gather enough coins to get a burrito or taco from taco bell.

Trend? This was true when I was in college, more than a decade ago!
"...they don't have enough money for food." Hopefully they aren't actually eating their money. 😂
Even the dining halls on campuses are struggling to provide adequate food & nutrition to the students living on campus. Many schools have mandatory meal plans. I have read about a lot of frustration on the topic.
This is not new, I live on Top Ramen for most of my college years.
"this isn't new" shut the fuck up maybe? this is an unprecedented intersection of situations.
I suggest they try ramen.
Food deserts! Who knew! Not to mention the nutrition levels being null and void
Ramen noodles lunch and dinner.. college kids don’t eat breakfast
Trend as in started the very first day the earth started spinning
