Still in total disbelief, but I am the Louisville Regional Champion!!! It's hard to put into words how incredibly proud I am of my achievement, making VGC history with back to back wins. I'm so grateful I get to play Pokémon every day and wouldn't trade it for anything ❤

I promise you I am not very good at VGC, and I have a 100% win rate against Miku bot. Either I play so poorly it can't predict me, or we are slightly overestimating its skill.

As someone who has both a hobby and a financial interest in online Pokemon tournaments continuing to run with integrity, the mikumiku37 bot presents a challenge beyond "AI is good/bad": How do we verify a human is playing in a tournament, especially for prize money?

These bots were inevitable. While not a competitive bot, we have been coding and training an evaluation engine for VGC for the past few months, and competitive bots like mikumiku37 are not too different. These bots are relatively easy to make. Combatting them is far harder.

People are talking about the "social" implications of AI being better than humans at Pokemon. People SHOULD be talking about how we will maintain integrity in online competition once everyone has access to such AI models. This will take a village.
