. @Whitechain_io testnet is live, and the ecosystem program is open as of today Three tracks: – Builder Program: up to $300k, milestone-based, early-stage – Strategic Ecosystem Deals: protocols with existing TVL and users – Chain Expansion: multichain, no exclusivity required OP Stack L2 Applications: bit.ly/4xSgayZ I'm reading every one of them
We’ve been quiet because we were building the upgrade Whitechain deserves! Whitechain is officially evolving from a standalone PoA L1 into an Ethereum L2 powered by the OP Stack. The Whitechain Sepolia Testnet is LIVE today. πŸ§΅πŸ‘‡

$10.3 trillion, 3.6% of GDP a year, bigger than the railroads and electrification. That chart is a genuinely historic moment. The thing I find most interesting about it is much smaller. Having an idea used to be worthless without a technical cofounder, and most ideas died at exactly that step. Not anymore. We are seeing teams ship real products who would have been stuck a few years ago, and at Whitechain those are exactly the kinds of builders we love to see. The idea was always the hard part.

A team I was chatting with this week built a product for gifting tokenized stocks. Nice idea, clean execution. Turns out most users aren't gifting anything. They're minting boxes and opening them themselves. The gift mechanic became a slot machine, and the founder's read was blunt: the slot feel is addictive. I keep seeing this. The loop people actually return for is rarely the one in the pitch. Aave is shipping a savings app rather than a lending protocol. Toss ran a payment cycle where the interesting part is that the user never learns a chain was involved. The winning consumer products right now are the ones where the crypto is load-bearing and invisible. Which makes accidental retention worth more than the designed kind. If people come back for a reason you didn't plan, at least you know it's real. The mistake is arguing with it. The behaviour you observe beats the behaviour you intended, every time. @alitiknazoglu

Tokenization numbers are flying around this week, and almost none of them agree with each other. @Dune's data makes the problem concrete: over $14bn of tokenized money market funds updated prices at least weekly through August and recorded no onchain trades at all. The price exists, the market doesn't. Those products redeem with the issuer. Then there's the wrapper problem. The same stock gets tokenized four or five times by different platforms, each with its own symbol, and volume gets reported per wrapper rather than per company. Aggregate one way and every platform looks small. Aggregate the other and the platforms disappear. So "tokenized" currently describes at least three different things: an asset that trades onchain, an asset that settles onchain but redeems offchain, and a receipt that updates a price nobody acts on. All three get counted together in the headline figure. This is the same job analysts did for L2s a few years ago, and it took years to get the definitions right. Worth doing it earlier this time, because the category is being sized right now by people using whichever number is largest.Tokenization numbers are flying around this week, and almost none of them agree with each other.

Everyone blames the bridge contract. In my experience it's almost never the bridge. People drop off in the two seconds after the funds land. They arrive holding a wrapped version of the thing they sent, or they arrive holding the right asset and nothing to pay gas with. Either way the next screen is a dead end, and there's no error message because technically nothing failed.

So the boring features end up mattering most. Auto-wrapping so the user never has to learn what WETH is. Gas compensation on the outbound leg so nobody lands stranded. Neither of these is fun to build and neither gets a headline, but they're what separates a bridge people use once from a bridge people use twice.

The measurement problem is the real one though. Your completion rate looks fine because the transfers completed. What you actually want to know is how many people did something on the other side within the hour.

What a great time at @EBlockchainCon πŸ™Œ A special thank you to @Victoria_AGago for putting it all together! Lots of valuable new connections, great conversations, potential partnerships, and plenty of ideas to follow up on. Now it’s time to get back into work mode - but I’ll probably share a bit more about the conference next week :) PS. Tnx for πŸ“Έ Yana (@Generis_agency) and @levonhub (@blockvaultapp)

Probably the most interesting panel of the day at @EBlockchainCon What institutional capital looks for before it allocates to a crypto VC. The amount of useful information packed into one discussion honestly felt almost illegal to hear. A rare chance to understand what institutions actually look at before allocating to crypto VCs - and how different that process is from the way fundraising is usually discussed in crypto. Great insights from: Daniel RodrΓguez Miguel - @LuxHouseWeb3 Tom Filip Lesche - @speedinvest Adarsh Giri - @FEPartners_ Definitely one of my highlights of the day.

Spent the afternoon at a panel on RWA at the @EBlockchainCon I build infrastructure, not RWA products, so I came to listen and learn. Worth hearing these problems described by the people who own the liability side. Ilona Limonta-Volkova (Armada), Previn Singh (@Fidelity_UK), Friederike Sofie Burckhardt (LBBW), and Yalini Isweran (@The_DTCC) spent most of the time on what still breaks. Settlement finality across custodians who don't share a ledger. Legal wrappers that don't map onto token standards. The gap between a pilot balance sheet and one an institution will actually put its name on. Photo from the room below😁

Met the @Whitechain_io CEO today. (@mekeetuh ) Really glad we got the chance to talk, exchange some experience, and finally meet in person. Tomorrow will be another packed day, so if you see me around, don’t hesitate to come say hi. That’s what @EBlockchainCon is all about meeting people, exchanging ideas, and networking.

Most chains buy first users with an airdrop campaign. We're building distribution into the chain itself. @WhiteBit sits upstream of @Whitechain_io and routes actual traders. First users show up as an existing base, not a farmed one. @BNBCHAIN $4M meme season is a fine short-term pool driver. It doesn't give anyone a reason to stay once rewards stop. Different problem. Per @Delphi_Digital on MetaDAO: Colosseum lets MetaDAO watch founders build over time instead of judging one pitch. Same logic here. One-off distribution fades, structural distribution doesn't. Testnet is live, mainnet isn't. The L1 state that gets frozen becomes the L2 genesis. The migration path is the distribution channel. Anyone holding WBT or using WhiteBIT already has a reason to show up day one. No campaign needed for that part. Open question we can't answer yet: do exchange-sourced users convert into chain-native activity at the same rate, or just sit there. My guess is the first group looks boring and sticky. But that's a guess, not data.
