In Texas, the 287(g) program empowers local law enforcement with limited immigration-enforcement authority. But there are three models to volunteer under. According to Goliad County Sheriff, Roy Boyd, the Task Force Model is the one that really counts.
Call your county sheriff's office and ask them to enroll in the Task Force Model of 287(g) if they haven't already.
